UA Coaching Carousel - Discussion of Hires...

Re: 2018-19 Coaching Carousel

Loved him as a QB coach, but honestly happy that he was not elevated to OC. Let's just see what direction Saban moves in here.

I wonder why Saban did not offer Enos enough money to stay? This does not look good... all the staff changes the past few years especially. I think this will affect recruits since it's the 2nd year in a row with such turnover. How will this affect the 5 or 6 left we need for Feb. signing day? I wonder what the recruits who just signed think of all their recruiters leaving.

Those recruits are defensive players. You already have your offensive guys signed. Might impact the 2020 class, but you have to focus on the now. IMO, Alabama will be better in 2019 for this change, and that is without even knowing who will replace these guys.

Re: 2018-19 Coaching Carousel

Hate to see Enos go, but I wonder if it's not because CNS wasn't going to give him the OC position.

Hope Saban hires a proven OC here.

You would have to think that , now. I mean, even if Hurts follows him to Miami as rumored, what will he do in 2020. Not like great QBs have been beating down the door in Miami trying to sign.

Re: 2018-19 Coaching Carousel

I think people here are a little too in love with Enos, but still, I wasn't expecting him to go.

Kind of a weird feel to these departures: it's not so much that I'm surprised to see a bunch of guys leaving; what makes it surprising is WHO has left (with a couple of exceptions) and who is still around (so far).

Re: 2018-19 Coaching Carousel

I would think that with our offensive firepower returning, there will be a line out the door.

True ... honestly the case on both sides of the ball. We have the talent to field a championship team for the next 3-4 years already. With the group we have next season, in theory we should be a shoe-in for the CFP again.

Re: 2018-19 Coaching Carousel

I hate to lose Enos. I don't know of another OC out there right now that is as good as he is at developing QB's that we could hire. I'm not sure that I want to go the NFL route again.

Yeah. But who are the proven OC's that are out there we can get? Ones who will not balk at the idea of having to work for a coach who places really high work demands on his assistants? Coach Saban is probably the hardest working man in the business, and insists his assistants be the same. I think some of the departure we are seeing are guys who are just not that committed to it. If that is why they left, then I don't want them anyway (and I am not saying it is true for all of them, but I bet some think "well, I can get paid the same for less work here or there.").

I don't know. I always stick to the "I Trust Saban" theme, and will not stop this time. But I really am concerned. How many more names does CNS have in his book, I wonder?

Saban had strict control over the message, I remember Fromm parents saying that. I know relationships do play a part but they are recruiting the young men to BAMA not to play for coach x,y, or z..
With that said it could affect the future recruits.

And I'll add where they are going for what job. Mainly key to gt for same job. Saban can't be clearing the house for the second year in a row.
I have a small issue with these guys signing the contracts with no loyalty or integrity. They don't even attempt to work it out. One and done

One of the few things I remember from the broadcast is Herbie insinuating that the Ross didn’t come to Bama because of the coaching uncertainty. Does anyone know if there’s merit to that?

B1GTide -- can you explain your reasoning? Not arguing..just interested...

Re: 2018-19 Coaching Carousel

I'm not really worried about the offensive staff from a 2019 offensive production perspective. The offense will be veteran across the board and you don't have to be a genius to lead that unit to 45+ points. This is more of a deal about the small stuff, long term player development, and recruiting. If you're gonna have to reload a whole offensive staff, you might as well do it when you have 4 WRs, 1 RB, and 1 QB who could go in the first round over a couple of drafts.

Re: 2018-19 Coaching Carousel

Is Saban pushing these guys out because he wants to clean house essentially or what?

Re: 2018-19 Coaching Carousel

Dang, this crap is getting old. Same thing every year. It would be nice to have coordinators tick around for at least 3-4 years. This is starting to have an effect on the team. I think communication is being fouled up due to the constant turnover. I also believe it is going to start having an effect on recruiting.
