Two questions:

1. If they think Mac can't handle a huge rush, why would they not bring it to begin with? Why wait and see if he can get comfortable without the rush?

2. Do you really believe Mac can handle a rush like Tua??? Tua processes info as fast as any college QB we've seen in a while. It's just not realistic to believe Mac can deal with a heavy rush as successful as Tua.

FWIW, If I'm Auburn I'm bringing the heat early and often on Jones. I hope Sark has planned for this and has a bunch of fast-developing plays ready to go! Getting the ball out quick to our speedy receivers is a must!
1. That's not what I said. I don't think they respect his passing.
2. Yeah, I think Mac can handle a pass rush as well as Tua. Mac's pretty smart and poised. But to be honest, if our OL doesn't help, neither would have much luck.

Sorry, I misunderstood. You are probably right that don't respect him, but I think they'll still try to rattle him with pressure. I mean, that's what we'd do if the shoe was on the other foot, right?

I hope you are right about him handling the pressure but I think it's a stretch to say he will do it as well as Tua. Tua's footwork in the pocket when he felt pressure was impeccable.

Well, I know we would a freshman QB. LOL

They always are and always will be the keys to winning and losing football games when the competition has two good teams playing.
Sometimes, though, you have to help the line. Quick snaps. Quick reads. Screens. All are designed to assist OLs from having to protect 3-5 seconds on every play.

I've been saying I'm worried about the exact game plan y'all are suggesting. A bunch of passes at or near the line are going to lead to third and long for us. That tigger defense closes on receivers very fast. If we don't stretch the field at least somewhat, they're gonna feast on that.

I think the idea is get our receivers out in space, make their DL chase to the sideline (to wear them out) and let our playmakers beat their corners one on one.

I will admit they are the best tackling team I've seen in the SEC this year, so it that doesn't work, Mr. Jones will have to test them with some downfield shots.

Some think we'll see a deep shot on the first play just to remind them we are willing.

With Mac at the helm, I believe maintaining favorable down and distance and third down conversion rate will be critical.
