Game Thread: 2020 NFL Draft

FIFY

But it really shows that Bill Belichick is hell bent in proving that his defense won those 6 SBs with the Pats. The offense is relying on Sonny Michel and Julian Edelman at this point unless Stidham is just a Rockstar that no one ever thought he was.

I do not see them winning another one under his tenure... unless of course your last statement about Stidham proves true.

Because I'm of the opinion that it was as much about Brady as it was Belichick.

Well Belichick's tenure starter 5-13 at the Patriots before Brady's 1st start. I think Belichick was more of the reason for their 6th Super Bowl, but I think Brady and Belichick would've been unemployed in the NFL right now if Bledsoe didn't get hurt if we are being totally honest. Belichick was a stepdown for the Browns after Shotty built a super team that was close to a Super Bowl two years in a row. Yes I know Carson was the bridge between Shotty and Belichick, but most of the key pieces were still there. Too much credit is given to Belichick for building a team that would eventually win a Super Bowl, but not enough blame is given to him for derailing teams that shouldve been competing for super bowls at Cleveland.

Brady, Belichick, and Kraft all deserve 1/3 of the credit for winning those Super Bowls, but if we are wagering which out of Belichick and Brady would probably return to the Super Bowl then I would say Brady because he is on a team that is pretty loaded in a conference with no real juggernaut team. Belichick is going to have to address the offense and soon to be relevant. I think the Bills are built to own the AFCE for a long time unless Tua is really the second coming of Dan Marino. But like @DzynKingRTR said, probably neither will return

It was the perfect storm.

It was the perfect storm.

Pretty much. Personally I still believe Chuck Noll probably built the greatest dynasty, but Belichick benefited from a far better leader and quarterback than Noll to win 2 more Super Bowls. Brady took a lot of stress off of Belichick by not demanding insane contracts, and not openly fighting him through the media. If we had a time machine and swapped Brady for Bradshaw in their primes then we could've seen even more lombardis in Pittsburgh with that team.

But on the flip side, Brady is lucky the 49ers chose Carmazi over him. Really the only team that drafted a quarterback that year where Brady could've been as successful at was probably the Steelers.

But like you said... a perfect storm

It cannot be overstated how valuable this was. The ability to walk in the film room and openly chastise the star QB without any repercussions was invaluable for Belichick.

I'm not as well versed on the history of the NFL as I am CFB, but what Noll did has to be ranked among the best of all-time either way.
