Didn’t I see Saban chewing out Golding during the game? My completely uneducated and uniformed guess is Saban is not happy at all with the defense. He comments about it pretty often and it seems we have better players than results.

Let me see if I can summarize my thoughts.

This is the fifth time with Golding calling the plays that the defense has given up 40+. The bright side there is that the first three times Alabama lost, but so far this year Alabama has won the game both times.

I watched the LSU/Florida game and I walked away thinking the recipe to beating Florida was to put pressure on Trask. Watching Alabama try to beat him with coverage was frustrating. LSU held Florida to 34, not with great coverage (they had 4th stringers in) but because they disrupted Trask. He still got a lot of yards, but he also turned the ball over and they stopped some drives. How is it that LSU made them punt twice as many times and got more turnovers?

I don't feel like Golding is capable of out dueling an elite offensive coordinator with any real talent on the field. Sure, Alabama's really talented defense that Saban has installed and can stop mediocre to kinda good offenses, but I'm afraid of Clemson, I'm afraid of Ohio State, I'm afraid of any elite offense.

Alabama got lit up by the 12th best scoring offense in football. They got lit up by the 14th best. The best offense that Alabama has actually fared relatively well against is Georgia, the 33rd ranked scoring offense. They still gave up 24 to them though and they average 33, so it wasn't a particularly stellar performance either. Next best scoring offense was Teas A&M, who Alabama held a touchdown below their season average. So when Alabama played an offense with a pulse, the defense really wasn't anything special.

It just feels like such a waste of talent... and it absolutely could cost Alabama the championship. Alabama has played the 12th and the 14th scoring offenses. It didn't go well. The playoffs are likely to feature #4 and #5...
this isn’t meant to be an argument but I think a few things are true

1) the refs are responsible for 14 points

2) Golding needs Strong on the sideline

3) whoever draws Ohio St is probably losing in the national championship

Golding gonna Golding. Defense isn’t as good as I thought. A one dimensional team still managed 46 points against a pretty healthy Bama D.

It won’t matter in round one, but the title game will be rough.

We actually have a really good DC on our Coaching Staff, that at one time was our DC, I'd just assumed that Coach Sal take over play calling on the D side of the ball & take over as our DC..

Never forget Golding won an Oscar starring in that tearjerker “The Goodbye Girl” when he turned to Zen coverage to get out from under great emotional duress and intense pressure. Like Saban says, “Resilience”

The defense that CNS and Golding put on the field last night will not beat Clemson. You cannot keep using "well the game has changed" excuse. If we assume every defensive player we have is a 4 or 5 star recruit then either they have been overrated or we simply do not have the defensive coaching we need.
You can still beat Clemson, but you will need a 4 quarter effort from your offense.

Our offense will literally have to score every time to stay in the game with Clemson. Their offense will give Golding's defense repeated enema's for four quarters. If we couldn't stop a statue of a quarterback in Trask, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers is going to run wild on us. He TORCHED ND's defense all day yesterday.

I don’t think so. Notre Dame stopped them at times and our defense is better than theirs.

Our offense will have to be on point, no doubt. Cant have third quarter nap time. But I believe our defense will acquit itself. That was an ambush last night. Florida is really good offensively, even if they don’t have a running game. They do things within their passing game to balance it out, so that a defense can’t just tee off on them. Their LSU game was a mirage.

Alabama is a better team in every phase of the game than ND. It isn't close.

Tebow said no one in the CFP will be able to do what Florida can do offensively, because no team Alabama will play has two players like #84 and #1. He also said no one does what Mullen does offensively. I hope he's right, but the designed QB runs Clemson does is exactly type play we have yet to be able to stop. That's what scares me.

They will get points. But we will get more. I also have to believe there are enough guys left from 2018 that will have enough motivation built up for revenge that we will have the mental edge as well.
