Makes the drum solo by Ina Gadda Davita look like chump change.Tell me its origin???
Never been in a band or know much of anything about music, but the MDB does a great job on the quad before home games. There’s kind of an informal, family feel about it as the individual band members assemble, some drummers warm up at Denny Chimes, then Elephant Stomp, then they stroll over toward Bidgood Hall where they line up on the street for the march to Bryant Denny. Of course this is all in the midst of the quad‘s pregame chaos.I couldn't tell you its origin, but that reminds me of what they did when we'd march into the stadium when I was in band in the Fran years. I've never had much of an ear for drum songs like this, but the roll tide calls during it were definitely something we'd listen to the lead up for.
We (really They at this point) listen to the drums for the real time keeping, but it is 2 beats for "Roll", 1 for "Tide". Or really, say a word with the strike of the left foot on the ground.Never been in a band or know much of anything about music, but the MDB does a great job on the quad before home games. Once the band falls in on the street; that’s where you hear their “Roll Tide” chants, but you have to be almost on the street to hear it. It’s very cool, I think it’s a kind of time-keeping device for them (Tubafore would know). I think it’s all a lot of fun and kids love it. If you choose to walk over to BDS at the same time the band steps off, you will likely be sitting down in your seat right at kickoff.
