No surprises there ... really.
Seriously, I don't - and have never - owned a pair of crimson colored glasses. But good grief, for a team that finished 10-2 and No. 8 nationally to start unranked? I really expected 24 or 25. :conf2:

I am not surprised at Bama not being ranked TOP 25 by anyone. We could have all suspected that before coming into this season. What fascinates me is how high these goons keep ranking the Barn.

THEY AREN'T THAT DANG GOOD!

Why do I even bother?

Coach Bryant would have been pleased.......probably wouldn't have said so, but pleased. Actually he would have argued that the Tide didn't deserve to be ranked THAT high.......and then would have proceeded to use that to motivate the team. By the time the season started, his guys would be smelling blood!!! :)

It's probably a good idea to remember that these rankings are made by a bunch of pencil-necked geeks like Finebaum and their rankings are largely based on reading what other pencil-necked geeks around the country are writing. Remember in 92, there was one guy who kept voting BAMA #1? I believe his name was Corky Simpson and he was from Arizina. He was ridiculed all season and was the butt of many jokes by other media members. We all know who had the last laugh, don't we?

CFB pollsters attach a lot of weight to having a young QB. Plus some hits from great defensive players graduating, plus a youngish HC, plus after effects from probation, plus they don't need much to cast aspersions on our program because we are Alabama, after all, thus they have plenty of reason to low-rank us. And, we have made a lot of sports pundits look real bad over the years. So don't expect much from national media. I'm not.

Paranoia? Nah, just the way it was and is.

:biga2:

You would think that we would be AT LEAST ahead of Tutorsee. They got beat by Vanderbilt for god's sake, and they didn't even go to friggin bowl game.

It's just proof that the media has their darlings and no matter how many games the darlings lose, they'll still be ranked higher than they deserve to be, at least in the preseason.

We'll see who's ranked where come November. :BigA:

So we are not in the Top 25 in Pre-Season... Good! We will be when it is all said and done. Like another poster pointed out, Bear would be pleased. This is where we want to be at the start. It'll all change in January.

Yep, I agree. It's not where you start thats important, it's where you finish!

We have another 10+ plus win season this year and the pollsters will begin to reward the consistency.

Here is the way to look at it. These pollsters look at the Tide on paper. They remember that our offence struggled last year and so on. Now as Tide fans we know alot more about the team. We know that many of the " holes" on D are being filled with players that played alot last year and we know that they are not only great athletes but are going to get the best coaching in the country. ( just look at what coaches in the NFL are saying about DeMeco and the others, how well prepared they are to play in the NFL because of what they learned at Alabama). we know that while we have a new QB he isnt an 18 year old freshman. He has more experience than what is " on paper ".
Coah Bryant would say... " we have them right where we want them".
