So if you can't find cause, and Harsin refuses a settlement, and says "see ya in discovery boys", does Auburn cave and give him the $18 million? Conventional wisdom says yes because Harsin is damaged goods and he'll cost you more than that in the coming years.

On the Right Reverend Hugh Freeze front, it is reported his buyout at Liberty is $5 million. So in this scenario, it's $23 million right off the top just to start before you put a contract in front of him.

This is the reason that folks at Auburn "can't have nice things...."
