The last time the Sugar Bowl was a day game was in 1987 (New Year's Day 1988). Auburn and Syracuse played in a 2:30 game on NBC. That is the only time since I've kept up with college ball that the Sugar Bowl was not a night game. I don't believe it has ever been a morning kickoff

They were voted permanent team captains. How could someone accept that kind of award from their teammates and then abandon them for the bowl game? Remember, this will be the last game that a lot of guys get to play wearing that uniform. You are going to just abandon them?

Both Will and Bryce are going to get paid handsomely no matter what happens in that game - even if they get injured. Their draft stock will not go up because they get a better 40 time or bench press more reps, so they do not need time to prepare for the combine.
I'm also sure that both of them are insured against injury and have been the entire year.

I think Bryce and Will both play and here's my reason, remember last year's press conference after the national title game and coach commented on their leadership and the way they played, I believe they'll play because of how much they owe and love this university maybe wrong but hope not, plus they want to play a game where Beth Mowins or Robert Griffin or both call the game 😆

Tough to measure this one. Glad the program has another chance to play for a myriad of reasons.........glad we aren't playing Georgia even though I think Bama would better know HOW to play Georgia than TCU or "meatcheekun". I do think that the Portal will have a lot to do with how the game ends up. There will be some KSU portals too...hard to say....I guess I will watch on TV......Swore off of NOLA years ago. Won't go to that town under ANY circumstances.

Were you the guy that was arrested inside Krystals after the Bama-LSU BCS game?

But they won't get that advantage because these lousy coaches will still be not helping them improve. Until the coaching staff flips, nothing will begin to improve. This game is pretty much meaningless in preparation for 2023.
I disagree that it is meaningless. For a guy like Simpson that hasn’t had any real game experience the reps in practice and in the game will matter. The experience against quality power 5 competition is valuable.

I agree the coaching staff won’t be as good as it should be, but live game reps against good competition will help Simpson feel the speed of the game better and it won’t be his first experience if he takes over next year.

It's meaningful even if for no other reason than the extra month of practice it allows.

I really have no idea. Yes, Alabama has an abysmal record of bowl success under Saban when nothing was on the line. But on the other hand most of those who would be unmotivated have either left via the portal or those who are afraid of getting injured will opt out (I don't blame them if they are 1st round). The real question is that which remains. In that group do we have leaders? Leaders are going to stand up when the chips are down and lite the fire under the team? If those guys are there and do what they should not only can we win, but it can carry over to 2023. If not, nothing short turnover in the coaching staff can save 2023, cause the 2022 team just didn't have "it"

I seem to remember a whole lot of talk about who all would not be playing in the Citrus Bowl vs. Michigan in 2019. And, if I recall correctly, the only opt outs were Trevon Diggs and Dre Kirkpatrick
