We've had superstar qbs for a number of seasons. Now I think we go back to an offense based off the run with the passing game designed as a balance. Something like we saw with Jacob coker
Might want to work on both................neither of these coordinators are up to snuffIn his comments during today's selection media fest, Coach Saban said that going forward, "We [the coaching staff] have to do a much better job making sure you have great relationships with all your players. Because I think it's much more difficult, you know, in the landscape of college football to be able to keep people focused. Because there's a lot of external factors that can affect them, and you want to be able to stay focused on the task at hand. That's what they can control, and what builds value for them and their future. So I think that's the number one thing that, you know, we would like to do a better job of in the future."
It sounds to me that he's not really worried about the staff's work on the X's and the O's and instead wants the staff to work on their relationships with the Jimmys and the Joes. I said all season that "something is wrong; something is broken."
I think that there were a lot of young men who were resentful, or distracted, or otherwise unfocused. And that he and his assistant coaches didn't do a good job of handling that.

This fits with something I heard from another coach that he wanted his players to play with confidence and have fun...football is hard enough and if you are not enjoying the journey and confident in what you do, then it is really tough. Somewhere along the way UA seems to have lost those elements -- confidence and fun. At times we seemed consumed with not making a mistake rather than playing like we know we can play. You have to play any sport with confidence or you will not play your best...I think that is part of what CNS was seeing....In his comments during today's selection media fest, Coach Saban said that going forward, "We [the coaching staff] have to do a much better job making sure you have great relationships with all your players. Yeah I was tired of hearing the anxiety line too.The players resented the crappy playcalling which in turn impaired their ability to create value for themselves which translated into anxiety in their performance which probably resulted in them losing focus and having strained relationships between teammates and relatives.
The coaches including Saban lost this team after the Texas game. Talking of 5 star athletes having anxiety is BS, it's because they know you don't know what you are doing.
I can only speak for myself and not the other post. I was asking a serious question. Do you know Young and Haynes do not block well or assume that freshman backs don't block well. I was not insulting you. LIghten up a bit and ask for clarification before you attack someone.I feel like you're insulting my intelligence here... I don't appreciate it at all. I don't just post here just to prove my worth and I don't have to do that to either of you.
Saban have said it many times over the years on RBs. If you can't block, you won't see playing time. He has stated that before. On the show, after game and at press conferences. Former players have said it. You have to be able to pick up the blitzes.
Not me - Jalen Hurts was far better and it took him 4 years to develop - and he had KiffinI would love to see Jalen Milroe with some decent coaching and an offense geared toward what he does well. Go back and look at the game he started and find the open receivers. He will need to work on his craft this summer but I think he could be something really really special if developed properly.
Me too at first, but he has been injured a lot and the freshman we have plus the ones coming in will probably surpass him. He played inconsistent too. Hope he finds a place where he can start and be good ( except don't go to Auburn or any SEC west team. )This surprised me.
JM had his chance this year...and he failed, pure and simple. He needs to move to TE where he could play for 3 years here and 10 or more in the NFL. I just hope TS and/or one of the incoming QB's can show us something...or else 2023 is going to be a long year. Not me - Jalen Hurts was far better and it took him 4 years to develop - and he had Kiffin
Not sure if that's true the offense Kiffin had was more suited to his skill set at the time. How many bubble screens, Jet sweeps or short passes did you see in the game plan? Speed wise this kid is on another planet from Jalen and just about any other QB in college or the pros. The biggest issue I saw was fumbles. How would moving to another position help with that? Who was the number one receiver a young qb could throw to with some confidence? I believe if not here he is going to be excellent somewhere. Lamar Jackson was so much worse than this kid in his first start in college. You know what they were telling him? He should switch to wide receiver this qb thing isn't for him.Not me - Jalen Hurts was far better and it took him 4 years to develop - and he had Kiffin
If TY Simpson stays he will be betterI really hope that we have a better QB than Jalen Milroe next season. If not, it's going to be a long season.
He had Kiffin for one year. He was very productive that year as a freshman. He won SEC offensive POY. The issue is that in his second year he regressed. Or rather, teams figured out how to slow him down because he was a one read guy that was hesitant to make difficult throws. Not me - Jalen Hurts was far better and it took him 4 years to develop - and he had Kiffin
WHy is everyone so worried about Simpson? He's not going anywhere. He's expected to compete for starting job in spring. If Saban brings in grad transfer, he still will compete. If TY Simpson stays he will be better
I'm not worried, you just never know what goes on in a young man's mind, I believe he knows the ends and out because of being a coaches son, I think he staysWHy is everyone so worried about Simpson?
