This is what I want. I don't want Pruitt as DC unless he is cleared of all NCAA stuff, which I doubt will happen. That creates trust issues too. I did like him as the DC last time though. Can't analysts coach now with the new rule?

Pruitt won't be hired at any SEC school next year. Waiting on NCAA ? Here's the facts:

There is a gentlemen’s agreement between Sankey and the AD’s. It’s a holdover from Mike Slive’s time. Here it is:

No SEC school will hire a coach who got another SEC program on probation – as long as that other school remains on probation. For cases that are unfinished like UT's – but are likely to result in probation - the rule remains the same. It goes for all sports – not just football. Pruitt won’t be coaching in the SEC next year – whether at Bama or anywhere else. The only way he might coach at Bama is if the NCAA rules on UT’s case and doesn’t place them on probation. That takes forever.

The idea that the NCAA might "clear him" while the UT case remains open is a joke. It isn't going to happen folks - not this year and likely never.

The change needed to be done with Golding. I wonder if any recruits on defense were aware that this may happen. This has probably been in the works for a few weeks. I know Golding was very personable and the recruits all liked him. I know they come to Bama to play for Saban... I was just curious of what they were told before they signed in December.

I have not spoken to him since yesterday but he said the university has cleared his hiring so I am assuming Pruitt is the primary target. I did text him to see if he had an idea of the timing of announcements.

Now, Golding is gone.... I want to see if Saban moves fast on this because he has few options, but if he wants his guy, he need to have a hire in place by Tuesday. he needs DC hire before he can focus on other positions.

Yes. We still got Saban and his timeout issues. We might see some silly playcalling on defense. Pruitt is known for it. Schumann probably has that.

I'm guessing the worst that will happen to Pruitt is a show-cause preventing him from a HC job for 'x years'.

That's what happened to Freeze - the SEC and the Bama board may give the nod knowing the NCAA won't affect JP's role. I suspect Sankey has already been chatting with people in Indy about this.

We were #1 in total defense in both 2016 and 2017 when Pruitt was our DC and you are going to gauge him on one game that we should have won. Can't satisfy some folks.
