Now, Golding is gone.... I want to see if Saban moves fast on this because he has few options, but if he wants his guy, he need to have a hire in place by Tuesday. he needs DC hire before he can focus on other positions.
Let me see if I read this correctly:

You are saying Nick Saban has few options.

AND ... you are saying Nick Saban needs to get it done by Tuesday.

AND ... Nick Saban needs to hire a DC before he does anything else.

Who are you? His mother?

Who else would be so presumptuous?

I certainly do not mean to offend, but this post strikes me as preposterous.

Please forgive me if I read this incorrectly. :)

Go back and watch the game, Tennessee doesn't have 200 mins of offensive ball time if we run our offense effectively, we lost minutes on the field turning the ball over on third downs and not MOVING the chains. Offense has to run the ball, chew the clock up. I can envision without re-watching that sh!tastic game our offense starting at the 10-20 three or four times and THROWING PASSES every time, failing to capture a first down, just to punt the ball back to Tenn and give our D a short field. How do you expect the DC to shoulder the blame?

I just don't see this change as big of a W as you guys do, it would be better if paired with a new OC imo. At least until they announce his replacement.
A longer field would just have given Jalin Hyatt more yards. Failing to adjust to the same guy getting past your defense to score touchdowns like it was Tecmo Bowl is absolutely on the defensive coaching.

Jalin Hyatt absolutely went off against Alabama
By now you’d think Alabama would dedicate a safety to his side of the field, but nope.

Don't know who we will get, lot of rumors of course flying around, just heard some from Rodney Orr that maybe Bo Davis is coming back and Roach will move to ILB which he played and coached at Ole Sis, and Pruitt coming in as a CB Coach ( SEC can't stop the hire for a position coach) Schumann, Leonard and now the guy at Southern Miss is being thrown around for DC? Golding had his issues but we better be careful what we wish for
Davis is not coming back.

Does no one remember that we won a national title within the last 4 years?
We all remember. But it wasn’t because we had a world class defense. We won a national title in 2017 with a QB who couldn’t turn left. It doesn’t mean it wasn’t a problem. The 2020 season hinged on Mac and the offense of Sark. The defense was merely passable.

I don’t think anyone is saying that the defense has been utterly incompetent under Golding. Simply that it could be and has been better, especially with the talent available at Alabama. And the statistics bare that out. Under Golding we went from tops in the SEC and top 5 nationally every year to almost always at the bottom of or outside the top 10. Pick any defensive stat and basically all of them decreased under Golding. The man has been the primary coach for ILBs every year he has been here, and our ILBs have been one of our weakest positions, with guys out of position or lost most of the time. I’ve seen this blamed on the players, but really, how likely is it that every single ILB for the past 5yrs is just too dumb to understand his job? It’s a coaching issue.

Long story short, I don’t understand your position that we can’t possibly upgrade over Pete Golding. Could we screw it up? Sure, but I don’t think that is likely. I also agree that we need a new O-Coordinator as well. Both coordinators have been hampering us. 🙂

I just want to get back to worrying whether we can keep the staff we have rather than worrying that we will.

WHY THE DC?! IT WAS LITERALLY THE OFFENSE PUTTING THE DEFENSE IN OFTEN IMPOSSIBLE SITUATIONS! HOW IN THE WORLD IS BILL O BRIEN STILL HERE, YET WE RUN GOLDING OFF WHAT IS THIS CRAZY WORLD

Offered him 2 million to stay, and he still moved LATTERALLY to Lane Kiffin's Black Bears.
I think you're supposed to use a blue font.

If it's not sarcasm... i didn't realize Sark was putting Golding in such a bad situation, because Golding's defenses sucked just as much then to.

Ya Okay, I hope you're right. Someone with better analyzing abilities pull the stats on each of our DC's first seasons. There's only been 4 (Kevin Steele doesnt count IMO cause it was Saban's first year), Kirby Smart, Tosh Lupio, Pete Golding, and Jeremy Pruitt. How have they done in their first seasons relative to the prior year?
I'll say it again. EVERY SINGLE DC under Saban delivered no worse than consistently top 5, and most of the time, top 1-2 defenses. Pruitts 2 years were both #1. PG across all his years was never better than 9th, and most of the time was outside the top15.

You can extend that to the DCs Smart has had at Georgia. Golding, statistically speaking is the worst DC to run Saban's defense at either program.

I'm sure there are worse DCs out there, they just haven't been calling plays at either of those schools.
