Might this be the year to give the QBs some live action in the scrimmages? I just hate the idea of waiting till the season starts to see who can handle game situations.

Who actually picks the QB1, Rees or CNS? I only asked because CNS was responsible for picking CBOB (who I think gets a bad rap) and Golding (his continued presence was inexplicable). Bryce never required any decision-making by the staff...he was just that good. We're not exactly batting 1.000 with recent decisions relating to the team.
Well for once I agree with something the Auburn Coach said. I really wish we could play Troy or UAB during a "live" spring game.

But what if the QB gets hurt? Yeah, that's a possibility but in this case, I think the rewards outweigh the risks.

They could keep the QB as non-contact. I like the idea of playing someone in the spring game and having it be in state schools lets those students have a chance to play against Alabama and Auburn since it is not likely that they will schedule them for a regular season game.

He even mentioned different colored jerseys like used in practice so teams don't hit the QB or take certain players to the ground.

Assuming it's optional for teams, I love the idea.

I wonder who's really ahead. I don't know if what I am hearing is good news or bad.
We will get to see them at A Day. That is about the best info we are going to get. I wouldn't expect a QB1 to be announced until the season starts. Even then, we may have the competition continue to keep up the heat until a solid winner establishes himself as the team's best option.

I hope the QB race doesn’t extend on into the season. If we get into the situation of one getting jerked because of a big mistake they will both play scare… not good.

Just use NFL officials and their new interpretation of roughing the passer and we'll be just fine!

I'll be shocked if Simpson doesn't win the job. He just seems to have a better grasp of the passing game, all around.
I guess it all depends on what kind of team we are going to be. If Milroe has improved as a passer it may be good enough if we are going to run the ball more. These days teams pass the ball more than ever. If you can have really good D and a really good running game you can go far. You can control the clock and it gives the other team less time to possess the ball. The question is…do we expect to be that dominant when we run the ball.

I don't think that "kind" of team can win at the highest level anymore. What happens when you can't run it in a game or two and you don't have an elite passer??? That's the kind of formula we used with GMac. Worked then, but the game has changed. Drastically IMO.

"Oh, but Georgia did it." Not really. Give credit where credit is due but that little squirt became a dart thrower!

Not saying Milroe can't become an elite passer...just that I want an elite passer and an elite run game. Need both!
