Game Thread: #9 Clemson vs Duke [ESPN @ 7p CT)

Me waking up this morning to see this score:

It seems to me the reason the targeting on the slide didn’t give Clemson a first down is because it was on 4th down. That’s not something we’ve seen. Usually there’s another down in the series when a play like that happens, A lates hit is always a dead ball penalty and with another down to play the offense gets a first down. Since the QB started his slide and did not get the line to gain, and it was 4th down, the series was over. Over on downs and then the late hit occurred.

Dabo/Clemson hasnt been much since folks realized the DC was stealing signals and countered it. Then he left…
“Them there folks in Durham are smart. They done encrypted their sideline signals…”

Yeah my post did not age well. I am thrilled to have been wrong.
Let's be honest though, Duke didn't take advantage of 99% of Clemson's mistakes. I mean, Clemson made about 500 mistakes and Duke only took advantage of about 4 of them.

I almost didn't watch the game because it didn't appear very intriguing, and I have a new video game that is sucking up all my time (Starfield) but, I'm glad I did. It is always fun watching Dabo fall on his face!

Clemson back to "Clemsoning"

This and LSU are more proof why pre-season polls need to be a thing of the past. Neither team should have been in the top 10, maybe not even top 15. But Duke and FSU will get credit all year for soundly beating a "top 10 team". While everyone going forward will only get credit for beating mediocre teams.

yeah, if Duke had taken advantage of every mistake, it would have been a bigger blowout than that bowl game where West Virginia dropped 70 on them

What I'm thankful for this morning: someone mentioned Dabo getting a call when Coach Saban finally retires (in 10 more years or so)... I am thankful that Coach Saban has lasted long enough to allow Dabo to prove he is not really all that. It was his coordinators, and other factors, which are no longer present.

If we are wanting to at least stay close to the pace Coach Saban has set when he decides to hang it up, Dabo is most certainly NOT someone we need to be considering (not that I thought we actually would be).
