Bad QB play affected many units tonight

Worst QB play in terms of the ability to control the pocket. Run first, he probably had 150 yards and opened up the passing game. Sark knew what we all knew. Stop the run and deep ball, you cut off Milroe. Too easy . And next teams will do the same . Saban might have to start that true freshman qb baller before this is over

Almost every play on offense was a broken play. Did not feel like Alabama football. Saban has replaced starting QBs before--not sure why he could not see what the entire football world saw tonight. It was a disservice to Milroe and the rest of the players not to give this team the best chance to win.

Milroe was pressured all night. It wouldn't have mattered much who was behind center. The OL play was sporadic. Real bad at times. The receivers were struggling to get separation. Pointing at only Milroe is unfair. Many of the problems we saw are fixable. We have a cupcake next week. So we have 2 weeks to clean up. Texas played a good game. They're a good team, and likely practiced months for Bama.

I am not pretending to know the answer. I am not at practice every day. Milroe's play was not great, but the OL was awful, and our RBs cannot pick up a blitz. this is now the second year in a row that we are counting on the qb to make something out of nothing.
Both ints were awful throws, but he also made some plays out of nothing. Milroe is the most athletic player on the field, my guess is the other two qbs have not not enough to warrant PT so CNS has to go with the most athletic guy.

We never established any run game. Our OL was supposed to be a strength and we were going to run the ball down peoples throats this year. Hasnt happened.

Joyless murderball. it was but we were on the wrong end. TX got the ball with over 5 min. to go in the game and ran the clock out That was probably the most disappointing thing of all. they made us quit.

Season is not a loss yet, everything is still in front of us. If we have a loss this is a good one ( I hate uttering those words) but there will need to be some changes if this team has any hope to be in ATL let alone the playoffs.

It would have mattered, respectfully to Milroe… If the qb is looking to throw first, anticipate where receivers will be open. You can get the ball out quick and make up for a for a few of those busted plays, giving other guys a chance to make a play. Instead he waited for them to be open while staring them down, or ran around and looked for a lane to run. Terrible qb play tonight, no ifs ands or buts about it.

Texas is just a better team right now. Better almost everywhere. Sometimes teams beat themselves. Last night, Texas beat Alabama.

I do not know how good Alabama can become this year. I could see 4 losses, the CFP, or anything in between. Improved QB play will be a key component, but far from the only one.

So first, why didn't CNS try another QB? I think the obvious answer is we've put all our eggs in the JM basket. I think the staff got suckered into thinking "MTSU JM is the real JM" when it's not. I'm speculating, but I suppose JM got 90% of the Texas game snaps and there was no "backup plan" if he didn't play well. That, or Buckner and Simpson are just hot garbage. I think it's the former!

There are multiple things to fix. It's true. But if you have a QB problem that is a serious issue. Our greatest concern about JM's game against MTSU has come true. He can ball out against inferior teams but better teams that can scheme to try to make him beat them from the pocket and make 3rd down conversions will cause our offense to bog down.

If we are to return to a power run game that controls the LOS it will take a better effort from the line, but Jalen is not the type of QB this will work with. He's not a GMac or AJ that can complete a 5-10 yard short pass to keep a drive going. Matter of fact, there were at last 3 or 4 passes he luckily completed last night that could have been INTs just the same. Every time he threw a short pass I held my breath!

Someone mentioned even our successful plays were mostly broken plays. Yeah, that's right. The two TDs that were called back because of penalties were both broken plays and I know for fact one of them was a lineman down field because it appeared that JM was taking off running.

If JM could suddenly become Jalen Hurts this approach might work. But he's not anywhere near that kind of talent to lead this offense now.

I was thinking that Saba was going to put in another QB, but then he threw that TD so how could he pull him after that?

Milroe honestly reminds me of that awbern QB that got them to the NC game against FSU. Can't remember his name, but he would chuck the ball up and the receivers would just somehow get that ball no matter what...🙄

Milroe 's ball placement (accuracy) and shot selection are frankly...not good.😖

Some of the OL‘s problems were UT knowing Milroe wasn’t going to beat them passing. Makes a huge difference when a defense has that advantage. The true freshman LT, Proctor , will be good one day. He will continue to progress. I don’t see Milroe progressing past his level of play last night, especially against good teams.

Yes. Basically Sark was playing chess and JM was playing duck, duck, goose.

I agree with this. Sark knew he was no threat to pass so they could turn up the heat all night on him and the running backs. Milroe had 4 or 5 completions that could have just as easily been picks. Just a rough night.
