Bama Game Thread: Official Postgame Thread - Bama vs. UTw...

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

While I think most of the criticism of Milroe is warranted, I remind you all that 14 points, 2 TDs in a game we lost by 10 were negated because of OL penalties. Proctor is a true freshman so that's to be expected from him, but the first was by a guy who's been here for what, 3 or 4 years?

Our problems seem to stem from either poor player development, poor recruiting evaluations, or a combination of the 2.

Sure am glad I no longer partake in sports media. The hater celebrations will be nigh unbearable.

It's no secret I am not a DD fan at all, but I can't really fault him for that penalty. JM is a runner, and was way out of the pocket and it certainly seemed likely he was running on that play. DD was trying to get out there to block for him, and to his credit, was busting his butt to try to get there. Sucks it was a penalty, but on a busted play with all that going on, can't really put all of that on him...

Saban has went from a drill sergeant / task master type to a counselor/ therapist. It’s not working….if we have to placate to these young men to keep them happy, let them go. I’d rather sink the ship with pluck and grit.

Brady throughout his career had some very mediocre offensive lines compared to many of his peers because Belichick prioritized on defense. But absolutely no one consistently tried to play him up on the line like teams do Lamar Jackson… you want to know why? Because Brady would hit you with a quick slant or out, and would 10-14 play you down the field if you did. Reading a defense and going through progressions are probably far more important than arm talent.

Yes the Oline is a problem but when there is zero respect for the quarterback’s ability to throw it’s more of an add on than a core issue. If we want to see this Olines potential then people need to respect our passing game.
I want to make sure I’m being clear. The QB is 90% of the problem. Milroe should have transferred last year instead of wasting the staff’s time. The staff should have done whatever they needed to do in the portal to get a QB. I’ll leave it at that.

No we wouldn't! We would posting things like, "He's lost contact with this generation and can't communicate." We are spoiled, and that's all it is too it! Dabo is doing that at Clemson; is it working for him? No.

Im to the point “we are who we are with Milroe”. If he is truly the best we got then this will be an easier season for most once they accept that this is going to a normal struggle throughout the season.

Again I don’t know if TB or any other quarterback would have been better but it was brutally clear after the first drive of the second half that we were only going to win if we hit the pumpkin chunker

I must preface this by saying I prefer old school football. This is just one observatation and I dont care what other players on other teams or coaches do. Why is it that the players celebrate every long run or catch or big tackle? I would think the coaching staff does not allow it in practice. The teams 2 main focues are to score when we have the ball and stop the other team on defense. It really makes me sick to see the kids celebrating after a 15 yard pass or a tackle for a loss. So I know CNS teaches discipline but we sure as heck dont practice it in the games we play. Go back and look at some of Coach Stallings games. Once we scored they celebrated. I would think the NIL has a lot to do with this and I truly hate the way the game has changed over the past couple of years. This is just one of the fans that has lived thru all the good and bad since the 1960's. Maybe I just need to listen to the games from now on. LOL RTR
It’s been that way over 40 years. FSU and Miami were the early adopters and its spread from there. It’s not going anywhere.

I agree that it’s disgraceful.

3) I don’t know if it was heard on tv but after Milroe threw his 2nd pick there was a large portion of the crowd that booed.

My point is that ESPN generally mixes the crowd noise

The booing was heard on tv and the announcers acknowledged it. The point about mixing the crowd noise is exactly why you could hear Texas' pep band way up in the upper deck louder than the Million Dollar Band at the end of the game last night. You hear what ESPN wants you to hear and, for some reason, they ALWAYS want you to hear the other band over MDB (it's even worse with CBS).

One point that should be made is that we have been blessed with great quarterback play. Our last four starters at QB will be starting today in the NFL. Nobody has ever had that. And perhaps our current QB situation is a result of that. Nobody wanted to come to Bama because they wouldn’t get to play early.

I was at work so didn't see all of the plays. But if Milroe was gonna go all game and the staff knew that, why were there not more designed runs for the QB. QB draw, QB power, QB roll out. If there was some of that and I missed it, let me know.

That drove me crazy. If Milroe is all we have, then we need to play to his strengths. Rees doesn’t know what he’s doing. Kiffin would have won this game.

with all of the dumb crap they waste a ton of time on reviewing, i couldn’t believe they didn’t even look at this.
I agree. The other call that was reversed in the first quarter that was ruled “incomplete” after review was a head scratcher. The Texas player catches the ball clearly with two hands, squares his shoulders with a “football move”, tucks the ball, and as he does, loses control/gets stripped. To me, that was clearly a reception/possession/fumble scenario.

Agree 100%. I get sick of hearing about a QB "winning the team". If "the team" doesn't want to get behind the guy that is chosen, show them the door.

Bama QB's have been working out with receivers during summer for years. Buchner also worked out with Bama receivers over the summer. Milroe didn't lose the game. Milroe didn't give up five sacks. Milroe doesn't play D. QB gets too much credit when a team wins and too much blame when a team loses. Milroe didn't make 10 penalties. But he did have two touchdown passes called back due to penalties other Bama players made.

I’m like several other posters. I’m just resigned to this year being bad. Maybe that changes. I will continue following but will probably rely on the dvr and watching later if it’s worth watching. I just don’t let myself get worked up anymore about a football game. I used to be terrible. I don’t want to know what my blood pressure was during the 2011 LSU/Bama game.

I’ll always pull for and follow Bama, but I don’t live and die by it anymore.

If you go back and watch what Sark did for us against Auburn in 2020 and what he did last night, particularly in the first half, it is remarkably similar. He started early making the defense run “side to side” with the lateral passes, getting it out quick. Ran it “just enough” early to make us respect it, then ran play action to get those safeties moving up and “took the top off”.

And who was the DC at Auburn in 2020? One Kevin Steele.

Sark knew what Steele would do before he did it.
