No ESPN or SEC Network on Spectrum (9/11 update: Settled)

I thought so too.

Not to digress, but we may end up looking back on the "SEC on CBS" and thinking those were the good ole days.

I personally always like Verne, despite his propensity to get names wrong, but he was actually a good, passionate play caller and I think Nessler is too.

I know Gary was always the target of most of the fans, but I actually liked him. He could talk too much but when he stayed on the topic he knew the game and was pretty good at even anticipating what was coming.

JMO.

100% agree.

I've got Sling for right now. My Samsung smart TV apparently is "first generation" (2016, yeah ancient) so it ain't so smart anymore. So I got an Amazon Fire Stick so as to access the Sling app. Spectrum is going ALL out in sending their customers elsewhere. It's crazy. I even got a message this morning from Spectrum encouraging subscribers to go with "their friends" (their exact words) at Hulu Live, Sling, and Fubo..

The thing that I wonder about is, now that Spectrum has shown that they will send their subscribers to competitors before they will give Disney one more red cent, how long before Disney passes that cost (they were hoping to get from their scorned ex lover, Spectrum) on to the other services

Taking sides in this ignores the simple fact that both of these companies are acting in their own self interest with no regard to their consumers. This is all about the money for BOTH companies. Consumers are not even part of the internal discussions except with respect the $$$.

Sling is probably the least expensive option right now, works great ime.
If Sling only had the local stations, it would be pretty doggone near perfect. I'm in Birmingham, and I've kind of got a soft spot for "the originals" from way back in the pre cable TV days. 6, 13, 42, WTTO 21 and shoot, even public television. 😊

Have you tried an inexpensive HD antenna? By FCC rule, broadcasters that delivered analog TV signal OTA had to switch to digital a few years ago, so assuming you're not too far from the broadcast towers, you can pick up the HD broadcasts from your local ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox affiliates using an outboard digital antenna and the television's built-in digital tuner.

I think the one we bought off Amazon was like $20, works pretty well. A powered antenna will do better.

It reminds me of trying to decide who to cheer for in the Iran-Iraq War.

Yet another question. If I have the ESPN+ app downloaded to my laptop can I keep my Spectrum cable and have access to all ESPN offerings through the app? It is only $9.99 per month and I will probably cancel it after the football season. Hopefully this is my last question. thanks to all.

I could be wrong, but until the contract dispute with ESPN/Disney is resolved, not matter if you have ESPN+ or not, you won't be able to get the regular ESPN channels. ESPN+ doesn't resolve the issue but only allow for certain, designated games like the Bama/UTC game in Nov.

Under the terms of the agreement, Charter has agreed to higher rates for Disney’s channels in return for being able to provide the Disney+ and ESPN+ streaming services to its pay-TV subscribers.

Specifically, the ad-supported version of Disney+ will be included in Spectrum’s TV Select video packages, which are among the cable operator’s most popular. The ad-supported ESPN+ will be available to Charter customers who subscribe to a tier that includes other sports channels such as regional sports networks.

In addition, when Disney releases its much-anticipated direct-to-consumer version of its ESPN cable channel—which is separate from ESPN+—Charter pay-TV customers will be able to get it as well.

Well, if I'd have known that it would only have lasted this long, (it sure felt longer LOL) I wouldn't have lost so much sleep. I won't say thanks to Disney or Spectrum, because neither deserve a thanks, but, I am grateful that the nightmare has ended. Till the next one, anyways LOL

Check with T mobile. My son has it and gets 100+ speeds and he needs it with 5 kids (all teenagers) a wife that's a on call medical professional. They also stream everything that's not OTA. Movie buffs
PS: Verizon and T mobile that we us are cellular based and not wired. I have a ryobi inverter that I use to power the modem should we have an electricty outage. This gives me internet streaming services on the phones and ipads in eastern Mayberry, Al. :)
What does T-Mobile use for internet? Just cell service to tower? Or can they co-opt fiber/cable like ATT/Comcast/WOW?

I just cancelled my You Tube TV subscription. Wasn't that hard. Did it on my desktop through their website. Painless.

I never changed anything else, so am expecting everything to be back to normal as soon as ESPN shows back up on my Spectrum cable account. So far it hasn't.

Lot of time left before I need it back. :)

I thought YT TV was OK but too many button pushing to get where I wanted to go - same issue I've always had with streaming.

We'll see what happens......
