I have to admit, when Griffen said we had a fourth down decision at midfield, I had to laugh. No way Coach Saban would do something that crazy.
saban is the goat, but it's actually not crazy to go for it fourth and 8 around midfield and supported by analytics. Like I said saban is the goat,(and smart also has this issue but even moreso) but if you had to tweak one thing about him it would be more aggressive on fourth downs like that.
We've made *a lot* of progress in college and pro football in terms of more coaches following analytics and going for it on 4th down, but there is still a lot more times they should.
There actually isn't that many times in football a team should punt. A punt is a turnover after all.
