Jalen Milroe is now the starter going forward.

IF RollTide2U is really a fan, then I'm Brad Pitt.
Seriously? I don’t post much, but you can see that I’m an All-American, which means I’ve posted quite a bit on here for over 10 years.
I was 10 years old when I became an Alabama fan. But I don’t have to prove my fanhood to you. My membership speaks for itself.

There are media people, including Josh Pate, who are questioning the effort Saturday. The tape is out there. I wouldn't say there are zero facts.

There are rumors that I don't want to believe, but then you watch the effort given against a really bad team that we were tied with going into the 4th quarter and it's hard to explain.
More to the point, why should we listen to the players anyway if they quit on their team?

Why do people keep asking this? IT HAPPENED

Just because you fire it off -- incessantly -- does not make it so. Nobody knows what's going on in the locker room or the practice field but Saban and his players. You keep passing off speculation as incontrovertible cause and effect. That's why folks are pushing back.

If that is true, and I’m still not ready to accept it, I’m not really sure I want to pull for a team with such an outrageous attitude and entitlement problem. I’d rather see the entire starting offense get benched and replaced by the 2s than put up with that toxic mess. Just……dude. This is like football sports movie drama.
Maybe I’m wrong but I’ll offer my two cents. This is a direct result of NIL and the transfer portal which focuses on the players choice. It diminishes the authority and instruction of the coaches. It all works when the the coaches and players are on the same page for a common goal but if that is not the case the coach has very little leverage. The players rebel and take their ball somewhere else.

Just a general observation: I’m 63 years old. And while I’m not a football coach (nor did I play one on TV, or dress like one during CosPlay) there is a point in your life where, in dealing with people, fighting the fight to get them to do what they should simply wears out. Sometimes you just have to say, “be gone” (my way or the highway) or “have at it, knock yourself out” (path of least resistance). After 35+ years of managing people and at age 63, I find myself my less inclined to “fight to good fight” any longer.

So Coach Saban is approaching age 72 next month. So has Coach reached the point with this year’s team of saying “it will be whatever it is going be” and this is the path of least resistance?

I know that is totally contradictory to what we know is Coach Saban’s DNA. But folks, we all get old and get tired at some point.
My wife and I both have parents who are in their mid to late 70's and we see what age and decline does.

We've recently had this same conversation.

This is NOT to question CNS's cognitive skills, but that something happens to most people when they age.

Relax. We just found out Brad Pitt is a Bama fan. ;)

Please accept my apologies, I confused you with one of the scout team members who said he hoped Saban is gone at the end of the year.

Sorry about that.

The players have said something since their meeting and Coaches announcement? Please summarize unless it’s more about being angry and murder ball.
Please look above in this thread… I believe I posted a link

But why not?

If he's the best QB, why not play him Sat.???

If CNS is playing games and he just wanted to show everybody Buchner or Simpson is not the answer then he's messing with the player's heads.

None of this makes sense!
I
I've just seen the one soundbite. Did he give any explanation as to how they reached this conclusion?

It's got to be based on the fact they forgot to evaluate the Texas game, right?
You have to admit he’s the only one of the three that didn’t stink it up on Saturday.

Ask yourself this question. What’s more likely? “The players basically revolted” (keeping in mind we have seen it before) or “Nick Saban benched his starting QB and started the worst guy, knowing the original starter needs all the reps and confidence he can get, just to prove a point”. Are you seriously going with the 2nd one?
