Is This A Pivot Point Game For The Season?

If there was ever a time for a Bama defense to step up and carry the load, this is that time.
Until I see marked improvement from the offense (all of them), I think this team goes as far as the defense takes them. They have the talent on D to do it.
If TRob was calling the defense Saturday, he needs to do it every Saturday; because if the defense pulls a Golding, this will not be a good season.

I'm a Bama fan and I picked them.

Personally think not only does Ole Miss win. I think Kiffin runs it up a little and rubs it in. I'm honestly scared for what Saturday could turn out like.

Kiffin will do everything Sark did. But Sark didnt unleash until the 2nd half. Kiffin will from the first snap. And Kiffin wont take the knee and run out the game like Sark did. He'll go for blood.

We'll have to play at a high high level offensively to win. Something I'm not sure we are capable of doing. I think Ole Miss would score 24-28 even if we had the offense of old. If we cant score or sustain drives, Ole Miss will get the ball and get it with field position. Add in a pick or three... and the recipe isnt a good one.

The only way we beat ole miss is if this team plays like we havent seen it play yet. This includes spring games, scrimmages, and the first 3 games this season.

I’m going to stay positive and hope we can rebound against Ole Miss. The first five minutes will indicate how things are going to go.

There is not a chance that Lane Kiffin runs up a score against Nick Saban. Not a chance in the world.

Lane's never been one to take is foot off the gas. If he has a chance to put up points he will. And my worry is he'll have plenty of chances due to our inability to sustain drives and our QB's inability to take care of the football

I don’t know where our floor or ceiling are but my fear is that they are not too far apart.

This game is an inflection point. If they play like they did against USF then I think a lot of players will mentally "check out". I cannot imagine Saban's reaction if that happens. Though a lot of these guys who have spent their whole lives being told they have it made are going to find out that, actually, a $250,000 endorsement deal when you are 20 buys a nice car and an excellent gaming system, but isn't enough to retire on. They may find it is hard to "add value" sitting on the bench with mostly terrible film to show since high school and the greatest evaluator of talent in the history of the game telling NFL executives "no way, that guy will quit on you."

The USF game reminded me of the 1974 game against FSU in Tuscaloosa. Alabama came into the game with the longest winning streak in the nation (may have been regular season) and FSU had the longest losing streak in the nation. The top two Qbs for Bama, Gary Rutledge and Richard Todd, were both ailing and the coaches elected to hold them both out. Bama had to start their 3rd string QB, Jack O'Rear. Bama was running the wishbone so you would have thought they could have breezed through it with no trouble. Instead FSU dominated the game (that is how it felt) and had a 7-3 lead and the ball with less than 2:00 to go. Bama stopped them deep in FSU territory forcing them to punt. FSU elected to run around in the EZ and take a safety instead of risking a blocked punt. So now the score was 7-5 and they kicked to Bama with very little time and no TOs. I don't remeber how many plays Bama ran but the weren't moving it that good and then inside of 30 seconds, the QB hit Ozzie Newsome for a big play. Bucky Berry then came in and kicked a 39 yard FG on the last (or next to the last) play of the game. And Bama won. It had the same feeling of the USF game that the sky was falling, After that game, Bama beat UT (TENN) the next week 28-6 and won the rest of the regular season games eventually losing to ND in the Orange Bowl. I was a student at that game and it was a hard game to watch.

I think Bama will show up and we will see a marked improvement in the effort and results. RTR

Win the game and everything remains possible. Lose and the CFP dream is dead with 8 games to go. So, yes, you are at a fork in the road.
I definitely agree with B1G on this game. If we win I still do not believe we will make the CFB this year, but could be 9-3 at best or possibly 8-4. Lose and it will likely be worse than 8-4. I do believe the problems with this team run much deeper than who plays QB for the rest of the season.

I do know it is a must win psychologically for this team. It wound go a long way to building confidence and righting the ship.
