Gavin Newsom blames progressive advocates and judges for California's homelessness crisis

California's Democratic lawmakers have been blamed for decades for failing to fix the state's out-of-control homeless problem and are now pushing back, pointing the finger at left-leaning judges and liberal advocates who have held up street-sweeping efforts by arguing such policies violate a person's civil rights.

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) on Tuesday called a court order preventing San Francisco officials from clearing most of the tent encampments in the city "preposterous" and said people have acted in disbelief when he told them his hands were tied by the courts.

"The San Francisco order, it's preposterous, and it's inhumane," he told the San Francisco Chronicle. "It's incredibly frustrating."

The Democratic governor said he knew he would ultimately bear the brunt of the blame but added, "Damn it, they need to be accountable as well. These judges are wrong on these overriding sweeping orders."

The misery of homelessness, coupled with mental illness and drug addiction, has turned once-beautiful cities like San Francisco and Los Angeles into public toilets and has led to previously like-minded groups turning on one another.

Ah. I smell a presidential bid.

He’s trying to disassociate himself from his unpopular far-left policies and move to the center a bit. The good news for him is that a lot of voters are stupid enough to fall for this.

He certainly isn't alone in that. It's standard procedure for both sides...

No question about it. It takes a lot of chutzpah to be one thing for decades, but when switching to run for higher office than a state position, suddenly they go through these miraculous changes. Must be one of those "miracles" I keep hearing about. The only thing more amazing that this happens is the fact that it happens to work.

They take advantage of folks' short memories. How could Trump spend his life as a Democrat and Pro-Choice and declare himself Republican and win the presidency?

Exactly! Thank you! I've been saying this for years now and yet people insist he somehow isn't exactly the same thing he has always been. This just goes to show that Americans will believe damn near anything. Idiocracy is prophesy fulfilled.

This is the major reason I’m so jaded with the whole system. These goons just say whatever they think will get them elected.

I don't buy any of this at all - but then again, I guess it's just because this is my 12th Presidential race, and these stories are as predictable as "it's going to snow in New England in March."

I can only see TWO WAYS that President Biden isn't the nominee in 2024:
1) incapacitation/death
2) he decides, "to hell with these people, I can have more fun chasing Jill around nekkid than this"

And it's number two that's the more...interesting, simply because he's caught in a vise grip if he does. If he announces too soon, he's a lame duck with the opposition controlling the House; if he waits too late, he cripples the fundraising ability of EVERY potential successor on his side, which is not something that will be taken lightly, especially if (God forbid) it helps enable the resurrection of Agent Orange to the White House.

============================================

Go look through old newspapers, you'll find the same thing over and over and over again.

1) The voters hate both major party candidates and wish they had more/better choices.
2) No matter how great the economy is, the people largely say it's not good enough
3) A small but very loud faction of the incumbent party wants the "standard bearer" replaced (usually the fringe lunatics that couldn't win an election outside their local pool hall or bridge club)
4) The voters will ALWAYS tell you they want "another choice," but that "other choice" only works in the abstract; the moment that candidate enters the race, they find things they don't like about him (insert Ross Perot mention right here)

It's just worse now because of the Internet.

And if you don't remember anything else I've ever said, remember this:
FLUSH NATIONAL NUMBERS DOWN THE COMMODE

I'll never understand why people don't get this rather obvious point. It does not matter how your NATIONAL numbers are, you are winning STATE contests.

Reminder: the first race is in South Carolina for the Democrats in 2024, the state that lifted Biden in 2020.

He wins there - and the whole thing is over right then.
A buddy of mine was on the Biden detail when he was VP. No female agents were allowed in the back yard because of his nakedness by the pool.

Maybe it's just me, but James Carville strikes me as the type of person who watches LSU games while hanging upside down from the rafters like a bat.

Clapton, Kennedy and Harrelson have all been outspoken against COVID-19 vaccines. The “Wonderful Tonight” singer received the AstraZeneca vaccines and said he had “severe reactions” that made him worried he wouldn’t play the guitar again.

In February, Harrelson spent a chunk of his opening monologue on Saturday Night Live questioning COVID-19 mandates and joking about conspiracy theories surrounding the coronavirus.

Is there ANYTHING even resembling a Democratic primary at this point?

Look, it's often forgotten but the Republicans had a primary in 1972. Yes, 1972, the year Nixon beat McGovern like he stole something, all while Nixon was stealing something.

Nobody remembers it because Nixon got something like 87% of the overall vote against one candidate from the left and one from the right.

To me - at this point - this is the same thing.

Biden would win 67-70% of the vote against the Forming Clown Car just by having his name on the ballot in New Hampshire (he might be in bigger trouble there if the Republicans didn't have a contest). And he can't take this seriously at this point, either.

At this point, the so-called 2024 DNC primary is nothing but a nuisance.

There IS an element of truth in what you're saying.

Predictable Pattern of Every Single Presidential Election Since We Went To The Primary System

1) the favorite/incumbent might be in trouble, polling is bad
2) this (primary) race might go on for awhile
3) the (name of party) needs to assuage the (extreme right or left)
4) there are so many candidates, we might have a brokered Convention!!
5) one might roll the dice and pick a VP from the other party
6) The early voting favors (and as a reminder - they don't really have the first damn clue here in some states, because those states don't count the ballots until Election Day. Others? Yes).
7) the voting turnout has been incredibly high (this has only been true once - in 2020)
8) the youth vote is going to decide this Presidential election (never happens)
9) might the Electoral College reject the candidate in favor of the other candidate

The only one (anymore) that has really any chance of happening nowadays is the first one.
Well, IN THEORY #8 would have a chance in a more idealistic world, but.....

Honest question: are headlines like this popping up all at once because of the media's set pattern of parroting each others' crap or is it beginning to feel like a coordinated effort by powerful people to create change in an attempt to avoid an outcome they clearly don't want? Everyone here knows that I hate the media with the white-hot heat of a supernova, but I'm asking a good-faith question here. What does your gut tell you?
