Who Replaces Jimbo?

I don't think anybody would disagree that TAMU is a much higher profile job than Ole Miss. I do think that Kiffin, if offered, will see Oxford in his rear view mirror. With the exception of a long history of winning football and current head coaches, TAMU is equal to Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Florida, Texas and Oklahoma. We shall see how this plays out.
Not only that, but 8&4 really can offer money OM can't hope to meet - but again I ask, are the 8&4 money guys willing to overpay again? I suspect there will be a bit more cautious approach with this contract - everyone involved ended up looking like a fool this time.

And you typically don't amass vast wealth accidentally - I suspect most of these folks a relatively intelligent.

Someone not all that far away from College Station that should be looked at is the Tulane coach. He has done a great job with the Greenies.

1) Ubran Meyer (national championships at 2 schools, and no buyout)
2) Mike Norvell (cleaned up Jimbo and Willie Taggarts mess once already and now has a team competing)
3) Lane Kiffin (popular name, but not a good choice, lane refuses to play 4 quarters of football)
4) Dan Lanning (young, and has done a good job so far at Oregon in 2 seasons)

Dabo would be hilarious because it would be the same results as Jimbo

LOL hiring Urban would be hilarious.

1) Boy, that would be a "great fit"...
2) Norvell would be completely overwhelmed in the SEC West
3) I think this is a likely choice. Kiffin just continues to fail upward
4) I don't see him leaving Oregon for aTm. Oregon is moving to the B1G next year, which will increase the competition from the Pac12, but still not on the level of the SEC.

that hire is reserved for Florida if they fire Napier, not a big enough name for TAMU
Right...most people don't understand the arrogance. It's like Auburn thinking they are really better than Bama, but you need to multiply it by 10,000.

The amount of swagger they walk with is amazing based on nothing but oil wells and big hats.

I'm seriously surprised they haven't said that Sark is a candidate.

At least UT has won a NC in this century. Oh wait, TAMU has never won one!!!

I heard this morning that Jackie Sherrill was the highest paid coach in the country when he was at Texas A&M. So this kind of thing is far from new in College Station.

I have ZERO concerns that they will "get this right."

The issue with Norvell is his ascension has directly coincided with Clemson’s slide. Do we really know if he’s good, or if he just slid into Clemson’s spot?

Answer: Someone who thinks that systemic unrealistic expectations won't get them, just like they've gotten everybody else.

For those who appreciate it in the form of an Arrested Development quote:

Lindsay Bluth Fünke : Well, did it work for those people?

Tobias Fünke : No, it never does. I mean, these people somehow delude themselves into thinking it might, but... but it might work for us.

Norvell is a good football coach, very good offensive mind, did a good job at Memphis and is from Texas, I've heard they may be looking at Jeff Taylor and Mike Elko, they need a football coach not a splash hire, we got lucky years ago by hiring a football coach as well as a splash hire!

Also, he's playing in a joke conference. It's not just that Clemson has slid back, but it seems like the whole conference is a dumpster fire. Outside of when Clemson is good and this year's FSU team who would you have any worries about playing if you are Alabama or UGA?
