A little preachy but it's coming from a good place. I want less toxic and more positive people on here. Most of you all are well intentioned and just expressing concern but you wrote off Jalen. Many said with certainty we would go 8-4.

I wrote a post earlier in the year about the naysayers asking if they were satisfied now.

Even Jess N said we would loss to Georgia and something else earlier in the year that I disagreed. I mean NO DISRESPECT to any moderator or opinion but when will you fans (some of who have been fans longer than I've been alive, over 30 years) going to learn that we have NICK SABAN. He WILL motivate, he WILL plan, he WILL get the best out of his team.

What's my point: Next time we are up against a tough opponent, unsure of our starting QB, looking not amazing at a position, and it's only the SRPING OR FALL CAMP - Chill out. Support your team. Believe in the process.

If you were an 8-4 person - I hope you're happy, you're just coming to the party late. But you're welcome here.

I think the overwhelming majority of us had doubts about JM making it as our starting quarterback this season. Your point, however, is well taken. We should not allow the negative comments to go beyond the line. It is important that we be able to make our comments good and bad without assaulting a person with our words. I love this board and the people here and the passion we all share concerning all things Bama😎

Personally, I always believed in Jalen Milroe and Coach Saban. Didn’t come east but they really got it together. Every week they got better and better. I still think if we play Texas again we stomp their butts. Two TD’s called back due to penalties, we could have won that game.

People's opinions are appreciated and welcomed. But I'll use this (OP's) post as an example for several like this that I'm starting to see pop up throughout other threads. Not everybody "fans" the way "you" do. Just like there are different flavors of ice cream there are different "flavors" of fans in how they process and express what they see from game to game. I won't waste everyone's time going through what I think are the different types of fans that are common in every fanbase, but I will say this. As long as posters, regardless of "flavor", stay within board rules, policies, and what the admins feel falls into the "spirit" of good discussion, every type is the best type to have to make a board attractive and desirable to the end user. You, myself, or anyone else isn't any "better", " more committed" or "loyal" etc. of a fan just because others "fan" differently than you or myself do.

More times than not, the reason someone wants a majority of a certain "type" fan, that, strangely enough, is the type of fan they just happen to be, is they cannot handle differing views or thought processes. I fully enjoy the "flavor" diversity and balance this board has compared to other Bama boards and the only way to have that is to be able to have members with the maturity to be around others who "fan" differently than themselves. We have that here and will continue to promote that type of fan diversity and anyone wanting a smaller selection of "fan flavor" probably won't end up happy here.

I know we are heaping a ton of praise on Coach Saban and Jalen Milroe for ignoring the naysayers and "haters". But the advent of the gameday "Complaint Thread" here on Tidefans is the real reason this team turned it around. There is zero coincidence that each week when the complaint thread tripled the size of the game thread, the following week something improved that was beaten to death like glue in the complaint thread the prior week. ROWTIDE!!!

I learned my lesson throughout the season....I stay in the complaint thread. It's my home on GameDay.

Telling me to falsely be positive doesn't work. As Bamabuzzard stated, we all process things differently.

People also don't like being preached to.

The vast bulk of us here in TideFans has NO IDEA what is going on in CNS's mind. However, I think last year, 2022, enough of the fan base, former coaches and players, MAY have convinced him the current direction he was trending (with Bob and PG and staff) was NOT up to standards and he needed to change directions. I know I proved this view the several times I called into talk shows to discuss Bama football. I didn't do it to ridicule or make less of CNS, but to help state the "TALENT WAS BEING WASTED"!!!

So, if I was a nayer last year, I think maybe I helped out just a bit to get us trending in the right direction again.

Yes, I didn't think Milroe was going to cut it at the beginning of this year. It wasn't just him, it was whole team. Seems like it took 6 months or so before all the peices really started to work better together.

Pate said we were the more physical team on Saturday... haven't heard a Bama team described like that in years. We played soft ball last 2-3 years....

I’m glad someone sees it, Coach Saban was leaving me on delivered on AOL messenger.

Remember, Saban may have been close to writing off Milroe too. He went after Buchner in the portal and benched Milroe against USF. Maybe if Simpson or Buchner would have played a better game there Milroe wouldn't have been given another chance. Fortunately for us Milroe did a complete 180.

If JessN picks us to lose that doesn't make him less of a Bama fan in my book.

I think both things can be true:

1. Milroe, the O-line, etc. were NOT up to par, had valid criticisms against them, and this team could have ended up with multiple losses without serious improvement.

AND

2. Serious improvement was made and the players, coaches, et al. should be praised for it.

Look, I’m taking it from every single fan down here especially FSU. I really don’t like when Bama fans join the crowd. We had legit reasons and even Milroe will tell you they were legit reasons for doubt. We were wrong. I said he wouldn’t last the season and I’m happy to say I was wrong.

This one should be framed, BB.

Discussion boards are for discussion, both good and bad. As long as you post within the rules and guidelines of the board I think all posts should be welcome. Imagine how boring this board would be if all we had was just a bunch of sycophantic posts about how wonderful Alabama is. Yes, Alabama is wonderful (both the state and the University) but I look forward to discussing the warts every now and then.

Milroe and the O Line were bad at the beginning of the season. Expectations didn't mesh. I was one of those that doubted Milroe's abilities. But he proved me wrong and so did the OLine. I admit I was wrong. I never put the person down.... I just agressively pointed out his misgivings. We all have grown throughout the season

We don't like adversity, as a human race. We just don’t. Some handle it better than others, but we Bama fans in particular have grown so accustomed to beating the heck out of the opposition, that we expect it, always. We would much more prefer that the game be well in control by middle of the first quarter, then we cruise to a sound and boring victory as it should be. Then we sing about it after the win. The reality is, there's enough parity out there that is not practical to always win handily every week, or to have to battle through the emotions of the outcome actually being in question. And there's only a handful of teams out that that we view it is acceptable if we don't pound them into mush. And some of those, depending on the year, we still feel don’t deserve to be on the same field with us. For every other game that is close, we view it as a complete failure and a sign of the apocalypse. This season is no different. Just the most recent. What’s surprising is that we continue to forget that this behavior is not new.
