Bama Game Thread: Official Postgame Thread - Bama vs. Michigan...

Easy answer for me....if he can't improve his field vision and decision making, then no, absolutely not....I want someone else that can do those things. Milroe is just too wildly inconsistent and it really all comes down to his field vision and decision making. His throwing mechanics are awful as well....have been all year.
I completely agree. Milroe is a good QB, but he is far from a great QB. Granted, he is very good at running the ball, but struggles with passing. I wish his ability to read defenses and pass selection was better, but I always believe the great QBs are born with that God given talent. There is a limit to what a QB can learn in that part of the game. Granted, our offensive line also is not where it needs to be. This is just my opinion, for what it is worth, but I don't believe we will win another national championship with Milroe at QB.

There are other guys on the team, WR, RB, OL, TE, who dont deserve to endure this type inconsistency either. There are 11 guys on offense and they all need the best opportunity to succeed...

I’m not sure I can take this live or die stuff every single game again next season. Where any play can be a 15yd gain or a 15yd sack.

If after the Texas game you had told me we would be here. I would have gladly accepted it. I just wish Milroe had a run pass option on that last play. Something rolling out.

That said the better team won tonight. They were better in the trenches.

He did - Roydell was WIDE open in the flat and looking back for the pass, but JM never even looked over there.

I think I'm out too. We're just beating a dead horse at this point. If we're all honest with ourselves we've really got first-world problems, and we've been spoiled by a once-in-a-lifetime run by CNS. I remember the post-Bear years, with Coach Stallings 1992 championship being the bright spot. Things could be a LOT worse.

Some of you all are too negative for me. Milroe isn't perfect but if we have a center who can snap the ball we probably win that game before OT
Center didn't cause Milroe to fumble. He nearly fumbled several times. That gave Michigan the momentum they finished game with. We never really got it back.

Milroe didn't lose this game.
Yes and no. It was 100% a team loss. But Milroe is the most visible guy as the QB and his season-long deficiencies came up pretty big in this game. For example, after Michigan tied it, we just had to drive down into FG range. We are doing ok, then he takes 2 low percentage deep throws, which Michigan was absolutely playing prevent against, and suddenly we are staring at 3rd and long and have to punt. Guys were open underneath but he goes for the home run. Historically we have dinked and dunked down the field with sideline throws to stop the clock, but he just isn’t the QB who can consistently make those throws. It is what it is.

The two biggest plays imo were the fumble and how bad the 4th and 2 hurt us on michigans last drive.

Milroe played okay, but there is some legitimate blame for our offensive ineffectiveness that goes towards him. However I would say the lines getting whipped on both sides were probably the biggest contributing factors to the loss. But Washington and Texas are proving a confident quarterback that makes quick decisions can alleviate short comings by struggling lines.

I think if Milroe is the guy next year then we need to design an offense around him in the offseason or he has to get better reading defenses.

Or defense that can get a stop. Up by 7 with 4:00 minutes left. Defense lets them march right down the field with ease. Bad snaps had nothing to do with that.
The defense held Michigan to 20 points in regulation. This loss is squarely on the offense, full stop. You HAVE to be able to score more than 20 if you expect to win the game.

JM needs to lose weight .. he is stationary with no escapabilty during sacks. his sideline speed is very slow
Indeed, he is praiseworthy fast once he gets going, but terribly slow off the blocks, akin to Usain Bolt and thoroughbreds( watch his Olympic performance). That is why he gets sacked so often by slower defensive linemen( plus the poor OL). And his throwing is sill subpar.
