…or our concerns have become a reality as far as DeBoer as a recruiter..

we are literally losing our best players, not re-recruiting the team.
Because 2 players have left? You can't count Bond, because he didn't even take CKD's call. Word was that Amari NiBlack was thinking about entering the portal even with Saban there. That leaves Trey Amos, and a few guys that I don't recognize. Everyone else has stayed so far. No matter who the coach was, there was always gonna be a few guys enter the portal. There haven't really been that many so far. I'd say he's done a pretty good job. Even if Downs leaves, it would be an overreaction to say that means he's not going to be a good recruiter.

I just don’t see the DC hire resonating with Alabama players. Maybe they’ll give him a chance. He seems like a good coach, and is familiar with DeBoer.

Honestly I don’t know what people expected would happen with an open portal. I think what happened at Oklahoma a few years ago should have clued everyone in to what could potentially happen if CNS hung it up. Very few players play for the university so you plan accordingly.

"that a bunch of us are jumping ship instead of sticking together"

I've heard that some of the players were taking less NIL money just because they were playing for Coach Saban. Is it possible that some are just testing the waters to hopefully get a better deal from BAMA now that CNS has retired.

they are committing to other teams. Most going to Florida State. So….I doubt it

I don’t think they were taking less money, just that Nick made them earn it. I’m sure they earned plenty, but they weren’t going to walk in and make as much or more than an all SEC starter.

That's the only way I can stomach the NIL stuff. They are going to get it in today's game. But at least use alittle common sense with it.

We see a few DeBoer and his staff were unable to keep. Some left before they had a chance to even talk to them. But we don't know how many stayed because of DeBoer, Morgan, and others. They may have prevented a mass exodus. It seems like it's been an exodus already, but it hasn't really. And remember, about 12 or so announced leaving before Saban's announcement on Wednesday. The team will be fine. It will be a transitional year, so I'm not putting any unreal expectations up. It's a tough schedule come September. The team we have in September will be special. They stayed to play and will get my support, win or lose. I'm going to enjoy watching these guys grow into a new era.

Until there are legit regulations and framework put on the transfer portal, every team will have to deal with the potential of mass exoduses or key player losses from year to year. HEAD coaching changes should be an exemption for players transferring without penalty of any sort. It's currently our turn to deal with it but outside of HEAD COACHing changes, there needs to be teeth of some sort put back into transferring. That will concurrently curb movement from year to year from boosters and schools using NIL $$$ to get a kid to transfer to their school.

I just don't understand this. He was gonna start next year.
To a young impressionable kid, a new HC and staff looks uncertain with his future. Then a proven stable team comes along dangling $$ and promises of being a superstar with their team. The carrot on that stick looks awfully good and tempting.
