Transfer Portal 2023-2024...

The 30 day portal, NIL, and all of this is just an enabler for quitters and bad attitudes. Not going to be concerned with these teenage nitwits. A top QB prospect who won’t even give a new head coach with a pass oriented offense a chance? Bye.

And it goes without saying, there is a TON of tampering going on. This is NOT about players wanting to enter the portal to “explore opportunities”. They have offers already on the table due to tampering.

So this is the bit of info I was told confidentially (which came from a friend directly from a highly dependable source firsthand).

As it was told to me, this was the watershed moment for CNS's deliberation to retire.

As I posted a couple of days ago, it was NOT the NIL opportunity, which CNS has been in favor of, it was the players' attitude about it and more so their preoccupation with money/NIL/deals over team goals that caused CNS to say "I can't coach this way anymore."

We'll be alright. Great opportunity for those who have second thoughts to be gone. Those who stay are likely to be "bought in" to the system... and to each other. I mentioned in the good news thread that, once the dust settles, this year is likely to feel more like building again instead of trying not to slip off the pinnacle. Those who stay will be easy to root for... and may surprise us with their success.

I'm usually right with you.....we just need to ride out this expected purge. So many of these big time recruits came to play for Saban, not Bama. There was going to be an exodus.....a mass exodus....with the best coach of all time stepping aside.

I will admit, my interest has been fading for a few years now......all the NIL junk, the portal junk, the sloppy play eat away at interest.

Texas, Ohio State, and LSU were the other schools he was strongly considering before signing with us.

And, ironically, because he was an early entry, whoever he goes to now likely gets to keep him, as he'll have used his one-time free transfer. (Unless that rule changes, too.)

Who knows, but JS isn't the kind of talent that would be run off by Mack if he really wants to be at Bama.

Y'all, believe it or not this news not only doesn't surprise me but once again I'm not letting this damper my enthusiasm of our future.

It's been a rough few days of losing great/potentially great players, but we'll be just fine.

And, if you haven't read up on Austin Mack, do so. You'll feel a little better. He's instantly going to be at an advantage over all the other QBs, even JM and certainly Sayin who all have to learn a new system fast.

I bet DeBoer knew this was coming and pulled Mack in. It’ll be interesting to see if Sayin lands back in California with Lincoln or if Kiffin had his hands in this.

Who knew Alabama would have exactly zero Saban equity left in the program so soon after his retirement? Due to all the external factors, it sure seems like that's the case. We're right back in the middle of the pack overnight, as far as being a place kids want to go.

I guess in relation to the incredible Saban era, we have to say, "Don't be sad it's over. Just be glad it happened at all."

I assume that the early signees are completely unfettered as to their ability to bail as well. If that`s true, I`m frankly a bit surprised that more haven`t as of yet, particularly so if the " They come to play for Saban, not Alabama " line of thinking is accurate. I would think that losses to the incoming recruiting class could possibly reach a point at which we would have a numbers crunch for Spring?
