Yea if they have negative things to say about the roster they aren't listening to. Even with the post Saban departures its as strong a roster that exists in the country.
For the first time in a very long time, I think that Ohio State has the best roster in the country. Now Day has to get it done. No more excuses.

I really like this Alabama coaching staff. Will reserve judgement on the oline coach for now, but this staff looks great.

Yep, it's getting "crap or get off the pot" time for Day. No more Harbaugh, and a loaded roster for 2024.

We didn't really lose that much. Four starters. It seemed really bad after losing Bond and Downs. But we still have a great roster, though a bit thin in a couple spots. The big question is, can the offense be prepared with DeBoer's offense by September.

At the risk of getting labelled the negative nelly, it wasn't just the starters we lost that hurt, it was the guys who were 2s or even 3s last season who were going to be the ones likely to earn or at least compete for starting roles vacated by senior or guy heading to the NFL. Pope, Little, Amos, Ricks and Kite were all going to be in the mix somewhere. Pope likely starts with Downs out and is probably the dime guy even with downs in play or maybe takes the other S role so Moore can stay at slot. Otherwise, Little or Kite likely takes the star (or slot CB whatever we call it now) so Moore can slide back to S. Amos and Ricks were first in line, with Little and Kite also in the mix, for starting roles with Arnold and Koolaid leaving for the NFL.

This. I expect when the guy who puts out the # of elite players on each roster to have us in the top 3 (we were #1 this past year). I also expect we have a very good chance of getting to ATL and obviously in the play-off with the talent we have on this roster.

There's definitely potential for us to feel some significant pains (early on) from the transfers. I hope whatever pains we do feel aren't worst-case scenario type of stuff. I know there will be growing pains just from the change of staff and philosophies. I just cross my fingers and hope that with the talent level we have on the roster and how strong this staff appears to be, it won't be as bad as we may think.

Id agree on Ohio states talent level.

As far as bamas talent go there may only be 2 or 3 with more talent

I looked up the # of 5*'s we had on last year's roster and it was 16 which made up 20% of our roster. We lost our LT to the draft and Proctor, Downs and Ricks to the portal who were 5*'s. We are bringing in four 5* in the freshman class. We will hopefully begin the season still with 16 5* players so trolls doubting our talent are uninformed trolls.

How many 5 stars does Alabama have on roster?

Five-stars galore in this game

The Crimson Tide boast 16 in total, making up nearly 20 percent of their roster.Sep 9, 2023

My point was we still have really good roster. And it will improve.

It's my hope we are not as predictable as we have been. Hopefully, that will offset some of the challenges we may have from the coaching change.I like that other coaches don't have several years of experience against this staff, of course, that works both ways. The better staff benefits the most though. It's going to be fun watching our offensive staff fool DCs about our play calling.

But the counterpoint to that was that we had 100+ guys on scholarship, or expecting to be on scholarship for the 2024 season, as of Jan. 1 of this year. So we were going to have to shed about 20 guys regardless.

A lot of the guys we lost were the ones we were going to lose anyway. Shazz Preston, Anquin Barnes, Isaiah Hastings, etc. I also believe that Isaiah Bond was going to leave regardless. Same for Kendrick Blackshire.

Our "losses" were basically Niblack, Pope, Amos, Downs ... maybe Proctor, depending on whether you think he would have left anyway or not. Shawn Murphy probably could have been a contributor. Probably Kite as well, to some extent. Picking up Sabb at the very least cancels out the Pope loss and goes a long way toward soothing the loss of Downs.

Bottom line, we were going to have to cut a bunch of guys anyway.

The real question when Kelly took over at LSU wasn’t talent as much as it was “depth” of talent. They were as solid as most any in the conference. The real issue for LSU was, beyond the two deep, what had Ogre left him? To Kelly’s credit he found a few key pieces to complement what he had that first season. And God knows I hate giving Kelly credit for anything
The other issue Kelly had was that LSU really lost a ton in the secondary. Some position groups were largely untouched but they had multiple walk-ons in the two-deep in the defensive backfield. I don't think they've ever gotten that particular item fixed under him, either.

Yep - Kelly focuses on the offensive side of the ball. He had a great offensive staff. He lost some of those guys, along with Denbrock and his best offensive players.

I think that he really improved his defensive staff in the off season but does not have the experience right now on either side of the ball to really be a threat.

They will find out just how much Jayden Daniel's WAS THEIR offense this season. Nussmier is a good to decent pocket passer but Daniel's created a large percentage of their big plays with his legs and athleticism

Yep. Watching people try to tackle him was almost comical at times.

Yes. We haven't tried to fool the defense since Sark left. It has been more of a "we have better players and can impose our will on your defense" mentality. It doesn't have to be a trick play every down, but a better outcome will be produced when the defense doesn't know what we are running every play.

no argument from me that we were going to lose guys due to #s, and some who were leaving to go where they see a real passing offense as a better opportunity, which is why I locked in on DBs and how many of those guys were likely to be in the mix for a major role. From your list of Pope, Amos and Downs, add Little, Ricks and Kite. I get Pope leaving since he was behind Downs at the time - just like Blackshire leaving as he's behind an entrenched starter but of Amos, Downs, Ricks, Kite and Little; Amos and Downs are certain starters, and probably 2 of the three from Ricks, Kite and Little are starters... I mean if we are having to manage the numbers, I think we'd choose to manage them from a position of greater depth than this one...
