Came across a post earlier today from 20 years ago while searching for some quotes! I love Alabama Football Quotes!

What are your favorites (by Alabama folks or about Alabama)?

Aside from numerous coaching quotes, my all-time favorite is

"Well Eli, Smokey just came out of the tunnel, and he's about 100 yards away from me now, and if I had my deer rifle I believe I could drop him, back to you Eli" -- sideline reporter ( and former player ) Jerry Duncan's comments to Eli Gold just prior to kickoff against Tennessee.

Here's the story and audio:

PETA folks need not respond :D We're obviously in a much different time where that's probably a way out of bounds comment now, but it was truly a classic (and coarse) remark about how Jerry Duncan felt about Tennessee.

"This marks only the second time this season that the gators have trailed, they were behind in week ago to Kentucky. There are few truths in an uncertain world, but here's one; This ain't Kentucky"

Verne Lunquist- 2005 UF vs Bama after the bomb to Prothro on the opening play

On January 15, 1967, after the Green Bay Packers had just won the first Super Bowl, Coach Vince Lombardi was asked how it felt to have the best football team in the world. He replied: "I don't know. We haven't played Alabama yet."

I can’t remember which game it was, but when Stabler was the color man with Eli, he said, “He bounced off him like a chicken off a pickup truck, Eli.” We cracked up, and I haven’t ever forgotten it.

Then there is the infamous “They ran through us like [poop] through a tin horn.” ~Nick Saban

"I just waxed the dude" - Rory Turner (Iron Bowl win, I think 1984)

"I guess I'm just too full of Alabama" - Tommy Lewis

"In the second quarter, I saw Torretta look over at me, and he froze for a second. I saw fear." - John Copeland referring to Geno Torretta in the 1993 Sugar Bowl (edited: LedSteplin got the quote right)

When Joe Namath signed with the Jets he did his first press conference in New York.

A smart-alec writer asked him, "Did you major in basket weaving at Alabama"?

Without batting an eye, Namath immediately responded, "No, I started out majoring in basket weaving but it was way too difficult. So I changed my major to journalism".

If they stay between the sidelines, Lee Roy will tackle them.

I know one thing, I‘d rather die now than to have died this morning and missed this game.

Well, I plan to be at every game, son.

You can‘t learn to ride a bicycle sitting on the porch.

If he had kicked it straight we would have blocked it.

Thanks for sharing. I'd never seen that one.

I love Coach Stallings and the voice he became for the disadvantage. I've heard him speak a number of times and his love for Johnny was the thing that moved him the most.

Speaking of Coach Stallings: I heard him tell the story of Johnny having a friend over to their house. Coach asked them if they'd like to go to the cafe near their Texas house and get a hamburger.

As they were sitting there waiting on the burgers, Coach thought he would show out a little (in his words) so he asked, "Johnny, who is your favorite Alabama football coach?" Fully expecting Johnny to say "Gene Stallings," Johnny didn't hesitate and very quickly said, "Nick Saban."

Coach Stalling ability to laugh at himself is one of his best qualities. So humble!
