nope...hit his shoulder as the WR dipped into contact
I couldn't tell from the camera angle on TV but it looked like the UGA defender lowered his head and hit the shoulder of the Texas player with the crown of his helmet and with forcible contact. This is targeting.

ETA: The crown of the helmet is basically the area within a 6-inch radius of the apex (top) of the helmet.

UGA kind of doing what we did vs them. Just not completely putting the game away. Texas has a small small shot still

what if the receiver lowers their head too? what do i do as a defender? its a judgement call...like the PI that was reversed...if its not clear then no call it

Like I said. I have no idea what targeting is anymore. The first season I felt like I understood, since then I haven't and I just shrug my shoulders.
Nor OPI, or DPI or holding or…Seriously they should just issue all viewers “SEC Officiating Screw Up” bingo cards because understanding what they are calling and why they are calling it is just a game of chance like bingo.

I don't think the receiver's helmet has anything to do with it; at least, not in this case.

Targeting wasn't called for contact to the head. It was called for forcible contact with the crown of the helmet after lowering his (defender's) head.

I’ve never seen, since the dawn of replay, a group of officials call holding on a DB and since the opposing team’s fans have thrown objects on the field, huddle up and reverse the call, which isn’t reviewable, I know Selma hates Texas. I do too. Unbelievable. I sure hope we don’t let them run the SEC like they’ve done in all previous conferences they’ve been a member.

After watching this bit of the Georgia game, what even is targeting? It's another argument for this college football game being totally broken and without proper guidance IMO.

If Beck can stop turning the ball over UGA can win a title but idk if he can do that when they play a good team in the playoffs. They'll need their defense to play lights out against a team like Oregon to win.
