Milroe's accuracy

I just read a comment about Daniel Jones that I think fits Milroe perfectly. "Jones has what Matt Waldman calls general accuracy, i.e., he throws balls that can be caught but are not in the ideal location for the receiver to do anything with them after the catch."

Hurts was further along when he walked onto the field his first game as a true freshman than Milroe is NOW.

When it comes to JM’s accuracy, it is a byproduct of poor fundamentals. At this point, IMO there is little that can be done to improve his footwork, pocket awareness and working through progressions.

As my father would say “As the twig is bent, so will grow the tree”. Under stress, like most players, JM falls back into his old habits because it is the natural thing to do at this point as player.

Yeah, we have almost no catches this season where the reciever was able to run in stride after the catch. Only one I can think of off the top of my head was the final TD against SC (and Benson shouldn’t have scored anyways).

I swear, I think Hurts was a much better runner, but Milroe is uncatchable. Milroe is a light-years-better thrower than last year but that also says how bad he was last year. Only a long ball to the pylon was accurate.

I'm waiting to see what the Coaches do.

Well, that's the paradox that is Milroe isn't it.

He's faster than any QB I can recall, yet we've had a couple guys who are way better runners and several who used limited speed to better effect.

He can throw the ball a mile, so has a really strong arm, but is down toward the bottom of being a good passer.

I really do understand why everyone gets excited about the potential - it's just that the potential hasn't been realized, with the exception of a couple of flashes here and there.

I love the comment, but Jones is still an order of magnitude more consistent with his accuracy

IDK much of anything about X's and O's and stuff like QB technique, but there was one pass in the MO game that was like a 15 yard pass to the sideline and I noticed a really weird sort of windup/hitch in his throwing motion...and the ball came out all weird and wobbly and sailed over the receiver and DB into the sideline.

At first I thought he hurt his arm on the throw, but that was really early in the game and he threw a lot of other balls that looked ok.

Seems like everything with his game is on sometimes and off others.

Very strange.

Maybe, and while Hill is a pretty good athlete, JM is very likely faster and stronger.

Taysom Hill has been clocked in a game running 20.17 mph, ran a 4.46 40 at the combine, and squatted 685 pounds at this years training camp. JM doesn't top any of those...

overrode their poor fundamentals. They were fine on the “routine” stuff.

I had a young fellow that played third base. Routine ground ball to him with an average runner - no problem. Slow roller to third and you better get ready. He may make the throw or it might go into right field or over the first base dugout. 🤣

If film existed of Jalen from when he first started playing QB (high school, middle school, or maybe before?) I would just about guarantee some of the flaws we see crop up now existed very early as a player. But in many cases at earlier ages those things slide because, combined with their athleticism, you can win with them “just the way they are”.

We told him if he wanted to continue a path in baseball he was going to have to start taking fundamentals more seriously rather than just "athlete-ing" every play. As we got into 14-15 year old upper level baseball you saw the drop in his performance because the level of competition was better. Most kids were just as good of an athlete as he was but with the fundamentals to go along with it. He was out of the game after the age of 15, because he couldn't out athlete everybody and the game passed him by.

I imagine (don't know for sure) that the practice time available with those kids (little league) was probably too limited to have been able to correct those fundamentals anyways.

Yeah, straight line fast. The way he runs (not picking on him, just the style), if he even gets brushed from the side he is going down. Basically runs on his toes with almost no lateral agility.

If Richardson can get drafted then so can Milroe even if is a project. It is just a waist of time speculating that Jalen will be nothing other than our starting QB the remainder of this season.

How the Richardson project is playing out it may scare teams away from doing the same with Milroe. Richardson is horrible.
