Honest question...do you have anything positive to say about Milroe as a player?
As a player...sure. He's probably the most athletic, the fast kid on the field at any given time vs any team we play. He's built like a truck.

I haven't seen his ability to catch a pass, but if he's got good hands I would bet he'd make a heck of TE with his size and speed.

When Simpson went in the game all he did was hand off to the running backs, his job was to eat the clock.
I want to see Simpson get a pass every once in a while.
I would have liked to see him get a few more possessions and take a few shots.

I guess that's not allowed by the LANK collective.

He's too short to be a TE.

TEs need to be able to block...
If he was at least 6'4" he might be able to transition to TE, but he's way to short for that position.

I think he sees himself as a QB and nothing else, but were he to transition, I would think it would be to maybe WR or more likely to LB or Safety.

I guess he could try RB but he doesn't really seem to have the kind of moves or footwork that a RB has.

He could be a great RB, maybe. RBs are like LBs - they are just wired differently. They seek contact.

Where ever there's BBQ, Bourbon & Football
He needs to get with the right person who can connect with him to flip the light switch on to his part of the brain that deals with anticipation, timing and field awareness. Granted, Jalen Hurts was further along than Milroe when he left Bama, but he had some of the same issues and got with the right people and has made himself a rich man as a starting QB in the NFL. Milroe needs to find that person for him. Until then, he's going to end up being a "great athlete" without a position as it pertains to the NFL.

LB it is then.....but he doesn't really like contact much....so.....I'm not sure what's really going to work for him going forward.

As Bamabuzzard said, he needs to find someone to work with him on anticipation, timing and field awareness. While I don't think he can merely work at that and it change much, he could prove me wrong.

Before that though....he absolutely would need to find someone to fix his mechanics and pocket awareness. If he could get his mechanics fixed, that would help him immensely....simply because it would make him more accurate. It wouldn't necessarily help him with anticipation and timing, but it would greatly help him.

Hurts was further along when he walked onto the field his first game as a true freshman than Milroe is NOW.

Agree he's too short to be a TE, but with his speed and size he could be very Deebo Samuels like where he's mostly a receiver, but also plays a little like an RB and sometimes lines up a bit like an H type TE.

He's an amazing athlete.

I'd hate to see all his talent go to waste.

Maybe he could be a Taysom Hill kind of player?

Jalen is a running QB, a very good runner. I

I remember that. Wasn't it a neutral site game in Arlington against USC. He fumbled the first snap only to go on and win the game convincingly. Love Jalen Hurts man.

Milroe will not be changing positions at this level. I sure hope the coaches have something dialed up for him going into Death Valley because he can be a game changer when he is on. Maybe we need to call the game like he is a wildcat QB the first few series and get the corndogs guessing. I believe he went off running on them last year didn't he?

It was USC for sure. I don't recall a fumbled snap, but it certainly could have happened. Hurts got called up after Barnett got the start and showed remarkable poise for a true freshman.

Hurts fumbled away his first snap after coming in late in the first quarter for redshirt freshman Blake Barnett, who was ineffective in the first two drives after becoming the youngest Tide quarterback to start under Saban. Barnett later returned to throw a 45-yard touchdown.

I thought he did that in the off-season...

I swear, I think Hurts was a much better runner, but Milroe is uncatchable. Milroe is a light-years-better thrower than last year but that also says how bad he was last year. Only a long ball to the pylon was accurate.

I'm waiting to see what the Coaches do.
Hurts glides and avoids big hits. Milroe has great top end speed, but couldn't make me miss in space. He has no wiggle at all.
