ETA: Just want to say that this is a good example of Brandolini's law, AKA the BS Asymmetry Principle, which states:

The amount of energy needed to refute BS is an order of magnitude bigger than that needed to produce it.

It's much simpler to simply laugh it off or respond with sarcasm when the juice is obviously not worth the squeeze (when facts don't matter to the person you are responding to). After years of dealing with these types it makes sense why some responses got the way they did. Now oftentimes it's more efficient to just ignore such people.

I'll categorize this as good news and a feather in the cap of the Biden administration:

US secures release of 3 Americans in prisoner swap with China

Three Americans who had been detained in China for years have been released in a prisoner swap between Washington and Beijing.

“We are pleased to announce the release of Mark Swidan, Kai Li and John Leung from detention in the People’s Republic of China,” a US National Security Council spokesperson told CNN on Wednesday. “Soon they will return and be reunited with their families for the first time in many years.”

The Americans were released in exchange for unidentified Chinese nationals and are now in US custody, according to a US official. On Wednesday, the US also lowered its travel advisory level to Level 2: Exercise increased caution for mainland China. Politico first reported the release of the Americans.

“Thanks to this Administration’s efforts and diplomacy with the PRC, all of the wrongfully detained Americans in the PRC are home,” the spokesperson said Wednesday.

President Biden blocked the sale of U.S. Steel to Japan’s Nippon Steel, fulfilling his pledge to keep the storied steelmaker domestically owned.

Biden’s decision comes after the Committee on Foreign Investment in the U.S., a federal interagency panel, spent months reviewing the $14.1 billion deal for potential national-security risks. In an order Friday the White House required the companies to abandon the deal within 30 days unless Cfius agrees to extend the timeline.

“We need major U.S. companies representing the major share of U.S. steelmaking capacity to keep leading the fight on behalf of America’s national interests,” Biden said in a statement.

Says a lot about the leadership of US Steel that this was even a consideration and the POTUS had to step in to block it. If we think these large corporations have our national interest as a priority we are fools...

Well, by charter, they are formed to benefit their shareholders, which this probably would have. Nippon is the 3rd largest steel maker in the world and US Steel is somewhere in the lower 20s. It would have been a very handy subsidiary for Nippon...

FWIW -- Nippon makes some of the best golf shafts in the world, especially steel for irons. They also make quality graphite shafts...I haven't seen a steel shaft from US Steel....ever.

Trolling the Trumpies on his way out the door, Biden awards the Medal of Freedom to Hillary Clinton and George Soros.

Don’t really agree with either, but no worse than Rush Limbaugh getting it.

I would have awarded the MOFs to each participant on the J6 cmte...

Conahan’s inclusion sparked harsh blowback, with Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro criticizing Biden for getting it “absolutely wrong.”

“I do feel strongly that President Biden got it absolutely wrong and created a lot of pain here in northeastern Pennsylvania,” Shapiro, a Democrat, said at an event on Friday. Conahan “deserves to be behind bars, not walking as a free man.”

Conahan was convicted in 2011 of funneling juveniles to for-profit detention centers in exchange for more than $2 million in kickbacks. He was sentenced to more than 17 years in prison after pleading guilty to racketeering conspiracy charges.

Biden has been on a tear his last month. Every time I think his administration can't think of another way to give us the finger on his way out the door, they find a new low.

At least Hillary Clinton generally worked for her constituents instead of spewing questionable speech on radio.

Soros is just another billionaire that should be taxed out of his billionaire status just like the rest of the billionaires. Almost nobody becomes a billionaire in their lifetime without some fairly underhanded to illegal tactics.

Unfortunately, Biden did little to address the border crisis
In his defense, I'm pretty sure he was only nominally aware of the issue and almost certainly didn't know the actual numbers. His administration has likely been lying to him non-stop for four years. I've developed a lot of sympathy for this guy in the last six months. The puzzle pieces have been slowly placed over the years, but it wasn't until recently that we could see the whole picture and just how deeply his physical and mental health really has deteriorated. (I'm still angry about the fact that the executive has been run by people no one voted for, though.)

President Joe Biden announced Friday that he was commuting the sentences of almost 2,500 people convicted of nonviolent drug offenses, using his final days in office on a flurry of clemency actions meant to nullify prison terms he deemed too harsh.

The recent round of clemency gives Biden the presidential record for most individual pardons and commutations issued. The Democrat said he is seeking to undo "disproportionately long sentences compared to the sentences they would receive today under current law, policy, and practice."

Needless to say, I support this.
