Trump's Policies Part 5

Trump says autism ‘has to be artificially induced’

President Trump on Thursday said that autism must not occur naturally, citing figures inflating the spike in autism and suggesting the administration’s Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) Commission could provide answers.

“When you hear 10,000, it was one in 10,000, and now it’s one in 31 for autism, I think that’s just a terrible thing. It has to be something on the outside, has to be artificially induced, has to be,” Trump said at a MAHA Commission event. “And we will not allow our public health system to be captured by the very industries it’s supposed to oversee. So we’re demanding the answers, the public is demanding the answers and that’s why we’re here.”

Sigh. Science is a foreign language to this administration.
Yeah, well 1 in 2 people are dumber than average, so maybe we should be working finding out who manufactured that disaster first!

Reactions: Its On A Slab

The Treasury Department will stop producing the penny once the current supply of the blanks used to make them has been exhausted.

This will force businesses to round up or down prices in cash transactions. Purchases made with a check or credit/debit card would remain the same. Not sure if a store would be required to accept pennies if a customer wanted to use them.

The reason for this is the cost of making them is more than one cent and it is losing money. This will cause an increase in demand for the nickel, which is even less cost efficient than the penny.

I’m a pretty traditional guy and hate to see it go but its time has passed. It is useless by itself as you can’t use them in vending machines and standing behind someone digging through a change purse looking for a penny is just a pain.
Changing the reverse from the Lincoln Memorial to that dumb looking shield was stupid.

The nickel is pretty useless as well for that matter. I don’t know if it would work but maybe start making them out of the penny material.
Our current fiscal policy tries to peg inflation at 2%, which means after 100 years, 1 dollar is designed to drop to 13.5 cents

But our real inflation has averaged 3.29%, so after 100 years, $1 is only worth 3.64 cents

Without some kind of new currency or massive deflation at the average 3.29% inflation, in another 60 years that original $1 will be worth less than half a cent (0.5 cents)

We will be soon retiring all coins as a they will be truly worth less than 1 cent.

Welcome to the new trillion dollar bill!

Inflation will eventually do this to all our common notes. We may not regularly see $1,000 bills in the next couple of decades but it wouldn't surprise me.

Absolutely this. There's a reason I can't remember our phone number from when I was ten years old, but I can probably think of 20 commercial jingles from the exact same time period. Marketing understands human behavior far better than a regular MD does. Frustrated doctors all over this country are still struggling to understand why their patients don't listen to them when it comes to eating processed foods.
Ours was easy - 750. You picked up the phone and a lady said "number please," and she plugged you into that hole. :) Actually, I have memories back further than normal. Pearl Harbor is very clear at two, but I have one from 18 months. Of course, sticking your finger into a live, empty light socket is hard to forget. I didn't confront the family about the stupidity of having it over my crib until I was about ten. They had no choice but to believe me, because only I and the one time ever babysitter were there as witnesses... :)

Anybody have the misfortune to have his address to the cadets at West Point today?

An absolute shameless embarrassment, praise of troops nested with boasting about all he's done and how we were colder than ever just a year ago but hotter than ever. And how HE - yes HE - built the military.

He cannot do any different, folks. CANNOT.

Trump and his Republican sycophants know no shame.

Cadets are told from DAY ONE that this is unacceptable and the “I’ll do what l want without consequences” narcissist did it.

He referred to “Alphonse Capone” and said he had been investigated more than Capone had and he was president almost ha ha ha.

I am telling you now, this idiot never heard of Al Capone until today.

Oh, he's referenced him before, most recently in his Alcatraz dream. (I guess some of the saner members of his administration talked him out of that. He probably didn't even know it didn't have fresh water.) I don't find that as bizarre as his ideation about Hannibal Lecter, a completely fictional character, referring to him as the "Late, great..." I guess it's what devouring hours of TV a day will do to you...

I had it on mute with captions and glanced at it occasionally. I knew he wouldn't pass up an opportunity for self-aggrandizement. I wonder what the cadets were thinking...

I will still guarantee you he doesn't REALLY know who Capone is or what he did. I mean, he didn't know what Pearl Harbor was for Pete's sake. Come to think of it, he probably HAS heard of Capone because he saw a movie in the 80s ("The Untouchables") where DiNiro played an excellent Capone, but I still bet his limits of knowledge on the subject are that Capone lived in Chicago, went to Alcatraz (I doubt he knows why), and beat a guy to death with a baseball bat (which there's no evidence it ever happened).

He reminds me of an SNL skit where - I think it was Charlton Heston - would go around reading Dr Seuss books as his new economic plan and there was a puppet master behind the whole thing. No, there's no puppet master here, I'm just saying he comes across as just riffing nonsense at the drop of a hat.

I did a year as a Security Police augmentee at Little Rock Air Force Base during the Clinton years. It's where they spend two weeks training us to fill in for the 81usaf92's of the world (!) while they go do the REAL work with security. During our training, they brought something important to our attention: "Look, we are in Little Rock, and the President and his family come here every so often. There's a good chance they will at some point land on the base OR that we might be called to provide additional security. I don't know what you personally think of the President or his politics, and it doesn't matter. If you have a problem doing the job on behalf of the office, let us know so we can replace you."

And for those who don't remember, Clinton was NOT very popular at all with active duty military his entire time. (And yes - most of it was his fault, and I don't just mean Vietnam).
