2008 Iron Bowl.
Up 29-0, Bama's punter shanked a punt and Coach Saban went over to him on the sidelines and yelled at him, "Don't you know how much I hate those guys?"
Instant man-crush. Gotta love a coach who hates the Bsrn.

Woe...I thought it was a "favorite"...but I guess you "remember" that.

I was at the LaMonroe game in 2007. I believed in CNS but that was a "tough one" to sit through. I remember walking out of BDS and it was like leaving a funeral. Hardly noone spoke a word.

Hard to have a "most favorite" sometimes, but for me there is a clear winner...
  • 1993 Sugar Bowl ('92 NC game) vs Miami.
A number of others are also memorable:
  • 2010 Rose Bowl (2010 NC game) vs Texas.
  • 1988 vs Vandy in BDS (my first Bama game)
  • 1989 vs Memphis State in Legion Field (my first Bama game as a student)
  • 1992 @ LSU
  • 2008 @ UGA

Some of you are mentioning your "first" Bama game you attended in person.

I honestly can't remember. My uncle worked for (and was friends with) the Drummonds in Walker Co. so we went to games all the time with tickets they gave him. We attended games in both T-town and B'ham regularly. We always parked at one house in B'ham near Legion Field because my uncle and dad got to know a guy they trusted who would watch the cars that were parked in his yard.

But, one of the first games I remember attending (that really sticks out) was an early-season Bama/Vandy game up in Nashville. It was so hot that I passed out while standing in line to get refreshments. I was with my uncle and aunt and after that happened, they wanted to leave because they were worried about me, but I insisted, as much as a 8-10-year-old could, that I was fine, so we stayed for the rest of the game.

The one "play" I distinctly remember is one that occurred near the goal line at the end of the field where our seats were. Vandy had pushed down to the 1 yard line and looked like they would score and then on the next play a Bama player (don't remember who or his position) shot a gap and literally picked off the pitch that was directed to a Vandy RB and he ran it back (IIRC) for a TD (or at least to reverse the field position drastically). It was such an exciting play!!!

@selmaborntidefan, can you remember this play and the year and outcome of that game? I'm pretty sure it would be late 70's and at most early 80's. Looking at the series' history, it would either be the '77, '79 or '81 game. I'd love to relive it if it's on video!!!

I have 2 favorites:

1. When Bama beat Notre Dame for the national championship in Miami. We were sitting next to several ND fans and they left at halftime. lol. I loved seeing Bama dominate that game !

2. When Bama beat UGA with Tua's 2nd and 26 play... we had great seats on the 50 yard line about 15 rows up.. this game was not my favorite until the second half when Tua came in. lol. I told my friend that we had a great chance to win once Tua started to play. All the UGA fans around us the first half who were so boisterous became really quiet second half. Some even cried after the game was over. Very stressful game with a great outcome for Bama. I will always love both Jalen and Tua! RTR

This is a crazy one but the 1981 Miss. St. game is one of my all time favorites. I was a junior and State had beaten us the year before over there breaking a long winning streak. I got in the student section really early with a big group of my friends we and kept everyone pumped the whole game. The cheerleaders even recognized us for keeping the crowd up. We were both top 10 and Tommy Wilcox intercepted a pass at the goal line in front of us to seal the win. Sweet revenge.

Two great games. I was at the ND NC game too.

But, I can't imagine a greater finish to witness than 2nd and 26. IMO, that's the greatest all-time game in Bama History. You can't top a "walk off" TD to win the NC!!!

I can’t narrow it down to just one all time favorite, but one that comes to mind is 2007 vs Tennessee. I knew we were gonna have a great day when the opening kickoff was an onside kick which we recovered! JP Wilson, DJ Hall, Terry Grant and OC Major Applewhite had their best game (statistically) during their time at Bama. Kareem Jackson also burst onto the scene with 2 picks!

That was the best atmosphere in BDS for an 11am kickoff that I’ve ever experienced. The whole crowd stayed for RJYH and we all got to witness the mass exodus of vomiteer fans from our stadium! All of us left knowing that more great days like that were ahead of us.

I thought the onside kick was the start of the second half?

January 2010 Championship against Texas in the Rose Bowl.

January 2016 Championship against Clemson in Arizona.

Hard to pick between those two for me.

That’s my #1 worst game attended.

They looked horrible in warmups and just lollygagged around the field like it wasn’t even game day.

Nobody on our team showed up.

I believe that was Miss St’s only Conference win the entire season.

I was miserable the car ride home and wanted Shula fired before even getting in the car.

My top for being there games:

1979 vs Penn State. Goal line stand, and I was sitting in that end zone, right in front of the play. Don McNeal was the real hero, keeping Penn State out of the end zone in the first place.

1989 vs Ole Miss in Jackson. We spotted them 21 points and I was wondering why I drove from New Orleans to Jackson for the game. Then we scored 62 unanswered points and won 62-27. It was a very pleasant drive home.

Don't remember the year, maybe 2009 vs LSU in Tuscaloosa: A friend of my son wasn't using his student ticket so they converted it for me. I got to sit in the student section with my son. This was the game where Julio took a short screen type pass and went about 70 yards for the score. It was great sitting in the student section with my son, and beating LSU.

I wasn't there, but my son says that the loudest the stadium ever got when he was there was Mt. Cody's second block to seal the game vs Tennessee. He said it was so loud you couldn't hear anything.

OK, I haven't started a thread on the FB board in awhile (and don't look for many in the future), but this is a fun topic and might get some interesting details shared:

Of all of the Alabama games you have attended in person, which one was your favorite?

I'm gonna go with the 2016 Aggie game at BDS. Now - for those who weren't there - the plumbing in the stadium went out, although if I go to the bathroom INSIDE the stadium then trust me, it's because I had no choice and couldn't wait.

But probably the greatest moment I ever experienced IN PERSON was when Jonathan Allen returned that fumble for the TD that pretty much sealed the game. Never have I been so scared in my life at a sporting event - because the thunder from the fans cheering caused the concrete to shake underneath me, it feel kinda like an earthquake. It was simultaneously exhilarating and frightening until it died down enough to just be incredible.

Incidentally, most of my trips to Alabama games have had some sort of glitch involved.
The plumbing not working - for me - was one of the least of my worries.

Freezing when the stands emptied at halftime of the 2012 MSU game was something different, though.
Alabama / Auburn 1971
31-7

Pat Sullivan, who turned out to be a really good guy, yet as a 10 year old I hated him. He had a miserable day. Auburn's only TD was a halfback pass.
Terry Davis and Musso were fantastic.

i was ushering with the boy scouts that day and the wilcox interception happened right in front of us. we were always ushering in the end zone section next to the student section
