Im not getting into it. He was a controversial figure and a controversial figure for a reason. That much is an undeniable fact. This thread is about a man getting shot and killed and not about conservatives whining about liberals not seeing the man like they see him or liberals listing all the things he said or done to make them mad.
This guy didn’t deserve to be killed. If you think he deserved that, then God help you.

And how many posts did I explicitly say “he didn’t deserve to be killed for his beliefs” before you decided to respond to the one that I didn’t attach it? It seems like your whole intent here is to pick a fight because someone you liked was shot and killed.

So I’m going to spell this out one last time so it is crystal clear and I’m going to hop off until the shooter is found so there is absolutely no confusion of my stance on political violence is…. “I don’t condone political violence of any type. Charlie Kirk as much as I disagreed with him politically; did not deserve to die for his beliefs”

I will pray for you, you have a lot of hate in your heart.
No hate in my heart. I’m just out of empathy/sympathy/compassion for people like this.
Ignoring the name, you guys read a headline saying “Guy who argued school shootings were a part of life, the 2A was worth it, shot at school, in a state that just passed bill allowing open carry on college campuses, during rally arguing gun violence isn’t a problem, while sitting next to a sign saying ‘prove me wrong.’ Dead”. I’m supposed to feel sad? If it weren’t Charlie Kirk half of you would be posting memes. I’m worried where the country is going, but I’m not expending any emotional energy on Charlie Kirk. I feel bad for his kids. No kid should have to be raised without a father. But that is about it.

See that is where you are wrong. This stuff has moved way past speech and ideas when it is actively being implemented and people are losing rights, being deported, having their cities occupied by the military, etc. Some people are going to snap if the doesn’t get ratcheted down.

also seeing how there is no suspect in custody, I’m not going to take the option of this being another R nut with a gun off the table yet.
I’m 77, lived through civil rights, the Vietnam war. In my lifetime, I’ve NEVER seen this country so divided, with such visceral hatred, one American for another. We used to be able to discuss and even argue political philosophy and points of view, but we would part united as Americans at the core. Now, your political views can literally get you killed. Charlie Kirk’s murder only serves to further divide us and moves this nation further into a very dark place.

I feel that way about I don’t align with politically as well.
To believe the posters around here you’re in the MAGA cult.

Seriously, what could go wrong with selective compassion?

Do you think Fox would have fired someone who made similar comments about the murder of a liberal political commentator?
The question is why would someone at MSNBC feel so comfortable making those statements on air?

The whole “shot by an ally in celebration “ quip is so derogatory that he should’ve been cut off immediately.

You made the statement not me. Refusing to back it up is weak sauce.

Why didn't they fly it at half-mast for Mellissa Hortman?
Or all the school shootings that happen every week.

Trump says we need to stop demonizing people we disagree with and then demonizes the left in the same speech. Trump is one of the worst at demonizing the people he dislikes, so why don't you change your tune Mr. Trump? And no, I will not strive to live by Kirk’s values, but thanks for asking.

Another school shooting happens on the same day but gets very little coverage.

Another family lost a loved one today. I wish people were always this vocally upset after every shooting. My tune never changes, when will this country learn to value life more than guns?

There are far too many people who are all gas (emotions) and no brakes (intelligence). They substitute knowledge with being loud. They only see a binary world where every action is one of conflict. If you don't agree with them you're a Nazi. It's one of the most ignorant and childish takes in our political discourse today. But it's a very common POV, even on this moderated board. Just before the last election, when emotions were particularly high and intelligent thought increasingly hard to come by, even libertarians were labeled as fascists. I can't think of a more ridiculous Kafka-esque association, but that applied ignorance was stated and "liked" by many long time posters here. Pathetic.

I'm yelling at clouds, but if you can't see beyond the retarded tribalism, you need to get away from politics all together. Go find a hobby. Maybe read some (nonpolitical) books, take up gardening, restore an old car, take in a rescue animal, contribute time and money to a charity. Do something worthwhile instead spewing snarky ignorance and thinking you're intelligent and clever. You can do better.

Acts of violence against Democrats or Republicans because we disagree on issues are unacceptable. What was done in Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Michigan, Florida and even the insurance guy in New York has no place in our society. This act yesterday, IMO, was a political assassination plain and simple. I don't agree with some peoples political posts on here or their football posts but I can disagree with them and still remain civil. When one party or both calls for violence, interrupting law enforcement, non-peaceful protests, etc...it is just wrong.
