Story here. Dabo states:

"If they want me gone, they're tired of winning, they can send me on the way, because that's all we've done is win. So if they're tired of winning ... we've won this league eight out of the last 10 years. Is that not good? I'm just asking, 'Is that good?' I don't know if that's good or not, to win your league eight out of 10 years, to go to the playoff seven out of 10 years, to be in four national championships, win it twice. "Yeah, we a little down right now. Take your shots. But I got a long memory in case y'all don't know. We'll be all right. We'll bounce back.

Reverse psychology is his angle at this point?

He's daring them to go out and try to do better. Asking them to be a bit grateful. I think it's fitting, and maybe a message to us all. Humility and gratitude seem to be missing, and not just from Clemson's fanbase, but in everything. Sadly, the machine of making money and winning just consumes all.

That said, when you pull down that kind of coin from an employer, Clemson in this case, they get to be picky and impatient. But, he's put two trophies in their stark championship case. He gets the benefit of the doubt.

Those would be great stats if you were to be able to forget just how much of a dumpster fire the acc has been in that same period. Like yeah you should’ve won every acc championship game. Most were against teams barely going 8-4

Sooooo...who they gonna go out and get that's better?
For Clempson, it will be difficult.
But in reality, when he has
Heisman-level QB play (Sunshine and Watson), Dabo looks pretty good. When he has run-of-the-mill QB play (e.g. Klubnik, Uiagaleilei) his teams are closer to "above average." In a very weak conference.

I mean... The fact that Dabo has had dominant squads and beat Saban in his prime and is now struggling should help us temper our own expectations of DeBoer. It is a new world...

Under Dabo they are 181-49 (0.78) with most of the losses early on or over the last 4 years.

10 years before Dabo 72-24 (0.61).

If the refs did their jobs in 2016, and our OC hadn’t had one foot out the door in 2018, then Saban is undefeated against Dabo…

Saban made this point defending Mark Richt and Les Miles, two coaches with pretty stellar records overall who got thrown out in a down cycle. He even mused whether the same fate may await him if he had a down year.

But at the same time there's a problem peculiar to Dabo that doesn't affect most coaches. HE is the one who drew the "holier than thou" line in the sand of "we won't use the portal," leaving him with the choice of being a 9-4 head coach or being a hypocrite.

As far as "well, the ACC has been terrible," what exactly was the ACC in the ten/twenty/25 years before Clemson started winning it?

Uh, it was even worse than it was when Clemson was winning it.

What was the ACC during the 1990s, when Florida State was winning the conference every year and then - more often than not - losing the national championship?

From 1992 (when they joined) through the end of 2000, Florida State went 70-2 against the ACC while the conference (sans FSU) was going 15-18 back when bowl games meant something. (Literally nobody complained about how soft the ACC schedules were for Florida State, this insight only happened when the power shifted to Clemson). And Clemson became a powerhouse after the ACC expanded to include Miami and Virginia Tech, two teams that WHEN THEY WERE ADDED had finished the previous four seasons with both teams ranked, in all but one case #15 or above and in four cases in the Top Ten.

So they added Miami and Va Tech - and from 2004-11, no team ended the ACC with fewer than 2 losses and only one (2005 VT) had fewer than three.

Then in 2012, both Florida State and Clemson (Dabo's fourth full season) had two losses. The following two years, FSU won a national title (2013) and made the first playoff (2014), but every team in the conference had at least four losses in 2013 and every team but Ga Tech in 2014.

Clemson and Dabo should be proud of what they actually did. But "did" at this point is also the key word. The ACC isn't any better now than it was when they were pulverizing it and going 43-2 against conference teams (2015-19).

Don't forget along with elite QB play, Clemson had successive dominant DL, NFL type WR, and very good backs.
All those elements are missing in the last few years. honestly, I cant name one WR or RB on their team worth mentioning. aside from Woods and Parker ( both Alabama natives) on the DL, they have an average team.

some coaches could win even when losing their top coordinators year over year (Saban)..... Dabo does not have that ability

Dabo made the mistake of answering a question that wasn't asked. "Do you feel the criticism?" and his answer seemed more in line with the question being, "Are you concerned about your job security?"

Talk about going overboard. LOL!
Yeah, he got a little defensive there. He acted like he is immune to criticism because he's been successful. He was the one that made the statement before the season started about how they were the first to 15-0, and how maybe they could be the first to go 16-0, and now they're sitting at 1-2.

Those national titles he got against us....he also had pretty solid defensive lines.

2015 - DE drafted in the 1st round....NT drafted in the 5th
2016 - DE drafted 1st.....DT drafted 2nd round......NT drafted 5th
2017 - DT drafted 4th round
2019 - DE drafted 1st round....2 DT's drafted in the 1st round....DE drafted in 4th
2023 - DE drafted in 1st...DT drafted in 1st....DE drafted in 5th
2024 - DT drafted in 2nd...DE drafted in 5th....DT drafted in 6th

He hasn't had them as dominant on the DL or at QB.

And now, when the school is not only paying coaches high-dollar salaries but is now having to pay players millions of dollars, "be grateful for what you have" and "look at what we've accomplished" fall on deaf ears. It's an outright professional organization dumping a crap load of money into a program that appears to already be out of the playoffs after only three games.
