What Are the Keys to the Game for an Alabama Win?

I wonder if we defer if we win the flip? Put the pressure on the Georgia offense to move the ball and score. If they don't and we do, we have the upper hand and the ball first in the second half?

I know conventional wisdom is to take the ball when you are better offensively, but this is the game we need to D to play with their hair on fire and be a change agent of disruption!!!

We have to defer. See what and where Georgia has decided to attack on the defense. We know this staff can gameplan two opening offensive series, they need to see what’s up from Georgia’s offense so they can adjust.

We have to get some kind of pass rush, russaw and overton have to put some pressure on, also I believe we will see some eye candy from Bobo not much but a little, and as has been said give TY some protection and some kind of running game

I definitely think so. The crowd and defense will be foaming at the mouth. Don’t let them start loud.

60 minutes of effort.

Bama punched UGA hard in the mouth last season but they stayed calm and almost squeaked out the win. Tenn did the same this year and UGA remained calm and won that one. Bowlcut has them playing hard and they play for the full 60 minutes.

Whether Bama enters halftime up by 20 or down by 20, they better come back out ready for a fight.

Wommack needs to stop dropping Russaw into coverage, trying to be cute and disguise what he's doing. Let Russaw hunt.

Both offense and defense need to be efficient. The defense needs to work to continually get the Dawgs into 3rd and long (and get off the field). The offense needs to score early and often, but they also have to eat up clock. We can’t continually score quickly and then put our defense back out there (our DL doesn’t have the depth).

All I want is this kind of effort.

Win or Lose no matter what the scoreboard says we better be like Balboa in Rocky II

“I ain’t going down no more.”

Then keep slugging away until it’s over.

The offensive and defensive lines doing their jobs is simply a given at this point.

However, for other maybe not so obvious keys, I think we need to use Ty as part of the running game. If we can get him 40-50 yards rushing, it will help the running backs have success when they carry the ball. If Ty can be seen as a threat to pull it and go, it will slow down UGA defenders from crashing all out on the ball carrier. We cannot let their defense get locked in on what we're doing as an offense or it will be a long, long night.

Dang if we do all that we will win by 30!

I hope we also keep them honest with quick RPO Slants to Germie or Brooks… maybe Horton.

Anything to back them off aggressive crashing.

We will almost certainly have to creatively use the pass to open up some rushing plays.

But even if Ty has to pull the ball and run we need to be multiple and give UGA as many things to think about defending as possible.

Have to keep them guessing and keep them honest.

I wouldn’t totally abandon the rush unless we get behind big and have no choice.

I can almost guarantee they are going to try to take away the slants by dropping linemen into potential throwing lanes when they're blitzing LB's and safeties. That is why I want some designed runs thrown in there to keep them honest.

Indeed. And I expect Ty throws his first INT of the season. But I also expect Gunner to throw his first INT as well.
