Game Thread: Monday, Jan. 19, 2025, No. 1 Indiana vs. No. 10 Miami (Fla.) | 7:30 p.m. ET| College Football Playoff National Championship Game (Miami, Fla.) | ESPN

If he puts some air on that ball like Tua to Devonta he’s got Abella Danger in his lap instead of his head in his hands.
He had a defender over the top and one underneath. I don’t see how that play was ever going to work. Even if they had scored they would have left way too much time on the clock. He should have thrown underneath and took a little more time off the clock.

It's a good thing the game ended before midnight. The ball would have turned back into a pumpkin and Indiana would be dressed in rags again.

But seriously, I'm very interested in seeing what Cignetti puts on the field next year.

I watched the game and, although I didn't want Miami to win, I wanted IU to lose more.

But, I'll give deserved praise where it's due to both teams:

To Miami for making it an entertaining and competitive game until the end. Had they played cleaner and avoided a few pivotal penalties (one which had IU stopped on 3rd and long), which gave IU and new set of downs and led to a TD, OR if they avoid the critical punt block, which lead to another TD, Miami is your 2026 NC! Good for them and for CMC for building that program into contenders (at least for this past year). With the current state of affairs, I don't see any team being dominant year to year to year (like in pre-NIL and mass transfer days).

To IU for winning a game when they didn't play their cleanest game. IU's QB made key plays but didn't look like the #1 QB that will probably be taken in April. With the introduction of mistakes, suddenly IU looked very beatable!!! Which leads me to believe it was not their talent but maturity that paved the way for their 16-0 record of beating alot of "average" B1G teams along the way. But congrats to them for winning it all and to CC, his weirdness and quirkiness notwithstanding, for becoming the 1st new HC a school that had never won a NC since UF won it for the 1st time in 1996.

In retrospect, if Lane didn't bail on his team, Ole Miss, which I think had the most talent and team combined, other than IU, would probably have beaten the product IU put on the field last night.

Hard not to appreciate what IU did this season.

Really makes you wonder how plausible it is for them to repeat it though. Now every other school will attempt to steal their system with older players. But maybe Cignetti really is the glue that holds it all together so it won't matter for them.

Congrats IU!

just tells you IU dominance was mostly due to teams not being sound on LOS. Only OhioSt and Miami matched them. If they had gone thr the gauntlet of SEC the picture may not have been that pretty

IU was zero mistake team ... rarely dropped balls, some amazing catches, opportunistic turnovers, even when Mendoza got harassed sacked he never lost the football. It was truly a magic run .. they were extremely lucky most of the time

If he throws the ball to the front part of the endzone Miami wins the national title. He severely under threw the ball. The underneath, not the over the top defender is the one who picked it. But if he would have just lofted the ball to the front side of the endzone we're having a much different discussion this morning. But, Beck just Becked... you knew it was coming.
