LSU is favored by 18 1/2 or 19 points in most sports books right now. Looks as if the money is favoring LSU to beat the spread.

I've noticed that too. However, don't put to much stock in the books...don't forget that last week Bama started the week at +15 and ended it at +17.5 and lost!

I'm not saying that LSU won't win or win fairly big, but I don't put much stock in the bookies. The best professional gamblers in the world will tell you that overall they are glad to be EVEN! That doesn't mean that some years they don't win really big, but it does mean that normally, it all equals out after several years.

Those odds don't really mean that's what's expected to actually happen. They increase the line to offset the number of people betting on LSU - the theory is that if they give Bama enough padding, some of those people betting for LSU will bet on Bama instead. The fact that the line is increasing just means that most people (including the posters on TF) are betting on LSU to win.

18, 19 191/2 24 points is not important. The good news is at last I can sit back Saturday night, and watch the game without having to worry about winning this game or even a close loss.

Folks are betting their houses and retirement money on LSU -- and who can blame them? This is a deflated and demoralized Tide team that will take the field Saturday night. It could very easily get ugly. Of course, I hope all these folks lose their shirts betting against Bama, but I can't say it's a stupid bet.

If I were a betting man, I'd bet the house on BAMA. BAMA does NOT get beat by 18 points, period. Even a demoralized BAMA team usually has enough pride to keep it within 14 or 15, dontcha think?

What that tells me is that the non-crimson wearing contingent of the country consider our chances of beating LSU as unlikely as MSU's chances of beating us last week.

What does that tell you about the state of our program? :frown:

Yes, Alabama does lose by 18+ points! In 1969 & 1970 Alabama won just twelve of twenty-three games, losing in consecutive years to Tennessee by ugly scores (41-14 & 24-0) to LSU (20-15 & 14-9) and worst of all, to Auburn (49-26 & 33-28). The Birmingham News quoted TN's 1969 All-American
linebacker, Steve Kiner, that the Alabama players he faced "didn't seem to have pride in that red jersey anymore.":mad2: But I share your hope! Roll Tide!

The odds boys are in the know. I wonder what they know that we do not. Then again it really doesn't require a degree. Does it! :BigA:

They know exactly what we know...they see the same games every week that we do. The difference is THEY don't see what their heart WANTS them to see or reject what they don't want to hear, its just business.

We haven't lost a game by 18 points or more since 2003.

Seeing that our OL has consistently gotten worse from game to game and seeing that pattern has been pretty consistent over the past three years I'd say that we'll be lucky to ONLY get beat by 18 points. The "weak links" on the OL better bring some Icy Hot to the game because if they think MSU physically beat on them just wait until Saturday night. Those boys in the purple and gold are more talented, more physical and MUCH faster.

This one will probably get ugly very fast. HOLD ON JPW!!!!

Normally, I would take Bama to cover a spread like that in a heartbeat. But, the way this bunch is playing you can never tell what will happen. If we aren't able to move the ball, it very well could get ugly
