A Big-10 icon. My condolences to his family and the Wolverine Nation.

Re: Schembechler collapses, dies at 77

May God bless him. I'll say a prayer for those who survive him. He was a great man. I wonder how this effects the moral of the Wolverines Nation and players?

The first thing that came to mind was the heart attack he had in the 1970's before the Rose Bowl.

He will be missed. I wish he could have been alive to enjoy tomorrow's game. This is a real heartbreaker.

I can remember Coach Schembechler from my childhood. I am sad to see another icon of CFB pass. What a first class guy. My sympathies to the Wolverine Nation. Hope they win one tomorrow for Coach.

It's nice to think that God has a special place in heaven for legendary college coaches. They are probably kicked back in a couple of comfortable recliners with the Bear and Knute Rockne, in their school's respective colors, to catch up on old times. ;)

I'm pretty sure they'd have to be in the same place to do that.

I am sure they are. What kind of comment is that anyhow?

Sad news indeed... What a classy guy and great coach..

Names like Bryant, Hayes, and Schembechler remind me of a golden age in college football.

Michigan lost a great one indeed...

I think he's referring to his on-field actions. Like when he punched that Clemson player after making an interception. But, if that sends you to hell then we're all going to end up there.

Tell me about it. Bobby Knight has had a place reserved for years.

I extend my condolences to the Michigan fans on the loss of their great coach. I hope this will provide incentive for them to win on Saturday.

As an Alabama fan, when I hear of the passing of a legendary coach like this, it brings back vivid memories of the death of Coach Bryant. These men taught more than football, they taught character, of which every man needs to win in the game of life.

Bo was a great one and will be missed. It was a pleasure to hear him talk about Michigan football, the obvious pride he had in that program. I never will forget the '89 basketball season, when Frieder took the job at Arizona St just before the NCAA tournament. Bo wouldn't let him coach out the season, said "I want a Michigan man to coach Michigan." Then the guy who replaced him led the Wolverines to an improbable national title. What a man. This is a severe blow for all who love college football.

Terrible loss, I had Ohio St winning this game by a td. With this happening, and possibly igniting a spark in the Michigan coaches and players, I have Michigan now winning by a td.

Go wolverines

Re: Bo Schembechler Dies on eve of big Game

It is a sad day indeed when someone of Coach Schembechler's stature dies. He was a hard nosed, no nonsense disciplinarian who coached power football. His Michigan teams had many classic battles with Ohio State and I am sure his spirit will be on hand tomorrow in Columbus.
