Two counts of trouble:

Dog fighting & dog trafficing.

Commissioner will have to give him the boot.........and Atlanta just traded their other QB off.

I am not renewing my season tickets.

Re: Michael Vick........former Falcons QB to be

I thought it was great news - hope he goes to jail for awhile assuming he is guilty

Re: Michael Vick........former Falcons QB to be

It'll be awhile before any conviction comes. They have to go through all the pre-trial motions and discovery. I'm a Cowboys fan, but think the Falcons really got the short of the stick with this problem since they gave up Schaub. If I were GM, I'd have pawned off Vick, but I have never been a fan of scrambling QBs.

Re: Michael Vick........former Falcons QB to be

I'm not a big Falcons fan or anything (I pull for them I guess you could say), but I'd rather not see him here anymore to be honest. Controversy tends to gravitate towards him. I thought he was the "good brother", but he doesn't look much better than Marcus. Had me fooled for quite some time.

Re: Michael Vick........former Falcons QB to be

From a purely football standpoint, I'm all for anything that hurts the Falcons. That said, dog fighting (or any animal fighting) for sport is reprehensible. If guilty, I hope he spends some quality time in jail. :mad2:

Re: Michael Vick........former Falcons QB to be

Wonder if the Falcons are considering Daunte Culpepper now. Or do they have faith in...duh duh duhhhhhhhh...Joey Harrington.

Re: Michael Vick........former Falcons QB to be

will a conviction void his contract? vick isnt guilty and barry bonds didnt do steriods,jk. i think it was a matter of a few yrs till vick played his way out of the nfl anyway, you reap what you sow. i cant feel sorry for a charicter like that.

Re: Michael Vick........former Falcons QB to be

i think the falcons will drop vick like a hot potato asap. this dog fighting thing is a p.r. nightmare. there are lots of dog owners out there and im sure quite a few buy tickets to falcons games. didnt vick assure a. blank that he want involved? now he is charged. so it looks like vick bit the hand that feeds him,not a smart thing to do.

I'll play devil's advocate. I think whoever is prosecuting this is trying to reach to get the conviction on Vick. Sure it was his house, but who's to say he didn't know what was going on in one of his many houses.

I mean when you provide for a lot of people like I am sure he is doing, for those in his family and entourage, it's hard for him to know what everyone is doing at all times. Can they get a conviction for guilty by something his cousin was doing at his house? We'll have to wait and see. I'm gonna wait for more facts.

Now if he was never at a dog fight nor knew what was going on at the house, then I don't think he should be convicted. If not, then let the law dictate what his punishment will be.

I think the Falcons stand by him until the facts come out.

It's the FEDS who issued the indictment, not some overly zealous local DA as in the Duke lacrosse case. I'd bet that the FBI would have a dang strong case before indicting. It's been said that there are videotapes of MV at dog fights. The sorry POS is guilty as sin and I hope they nail his sorry arse to the wall. I hope he shares a cell with some huge Neanderthal who is a passionate Peta member.

Let me direct you to the indictment. It contains very specific allegations of fact of direct involvement and participation of Michael Vick. If you don't have the time to read it in its entirety then maybe reading paragraph 53 will give you the flavor of the allegations of the indictment (and the evidence presented to the grand jury leading to issuance of the indictment)

In or about March of 2003, PEACE, after consulting with VICK about the losing female pit bull's condition, executed the losing dog by wetting the dog down with water and electrocuting the animal.

Granted, he's entitled to a trial. Afterwards, if the feds prove their case, it would be nice if they hosed him down and tasered him.

Whoa, now. First, the Feds don't have the authority to issue indictments. They can only deliver the charge to a Grand Jury, which in turn considers the evidence presented to them in each case. If the Grand Jury decides that there is enough evidence to take the case to trial, then they issue a True Bill. If this is the case, it can then be scheduled on a court docket. If the Grand Jury decides there is NOT enough evidence to take the case to trial, they return a No Bill, in which case the charges are dropped and the defendant is released.
In the case of Michael Vick, we can safely assume now that there is enough evidence to move forward with the case.
He better have a really, really good lawyer.

I think his point was that this is a federal case and will be tried by a U.S. Attorney, not a District Attorney. (I'm no attorney, so I may very well be mistaken) Regardless, U.S. Attorney's have political aspirations as well. After what happened to the boys at Duke, I'll take a "wait and see" approach on this.

According to espn, it is an indictment by a federal grand jury. It will be late 2008 (at the earliest) before this finally goes to trial. Because Vick is not a "repeat offender," the NFL will not suspend him for this indictment alone.

Okay, I'll play semantics. He was indicted by a federal grand jury.
