So, the season got off to the start that it should have for you guys. I don't think anyone expected Bama to be tested much in the first game, but the Tide did what it should have done and took care of business.

Hey, that doesn't always happen. *cough*Michigan*cough*

;)

Hope you guys can win 'em all and we can do the same to set up a good time in T-Town in a few weeks! Good luck!

I'm ready for some real competition. Last night was kind of a preseason NFL game for us. Next week will be a little more like the real deal. I wouldn't underestimate Vandy in Nashville. They could surprise us. Then Arky comes to town. That's when the real season begins.

No kidding. Even though Vandy played an inferior opponent, they played a tougher team than W. Carolina. They hung a lot of points on Richmond. We dont need to look past Vandy.

2 years ago Richmond was pretty good winning the Atlantic 10 co-championship and beating their only Div 1 opponent (DUKE). Last year they were in decline going 6-5 losing 4 of their last 5 games. No doubt Vandy will be much better competition than WCU but I didn't see much of a running game from them or a great defense. Vandy's longest run of the day was by their back up quarterback. Take those 44 yards away and they had 120 on the ground vs 281 through the air with Earl Bennett catching 221 of those. If we put our best safety on Bennett and put pressure on Nickson I would think those passing numbers would go down dramatically. Richmond ran the ball well against Vandy but 3 interceptions killed them. Richmond averaged over 40 yards on kick returns with one going 93 yards for a TD. Vandy's D doesn't appear to be world class IMO.

Good insights about Vandy. It their D isn't that good, then they could be in trouble with our O. We may be in for a high-scoring contest.

The Biggest difference about Vandy these days to me is they are really well coached. I think the folks at Vandy realize also even though they havent won they would be hard pressed to find a better football coach than CBJ. Let me put it like this....If Johnson were at Tennessee and Fulmer at Vandy would Vandy ever beat Tennessee???? I rest my case... We better be ready for the Dores....

Judging from last night's game I don't believe CNS will let the team overlook Vandy or any other team on the schedule. He seems to be all business and that's a good thing.

Vandy is probably gonna be pretty tough to handle but I think we will be able to do it.

Arky's gonna be a pretty tough game but because of Monk being out they've been made pretty one dimentional. That one's gonna be a little of a toss up.

I agree Arkansas will be one dimensional , still that is one dimension we are gonna have trouble with.

We got two weeks to shore up the defense against the run. Hopefully thats enough time to get us a W in this game.

well, based on LAST year,7-8 games were lost by eight points or less, including The barn,Rock Flop, and Miss. State.
And LSU was pretty close considering we played our hearts out at the end.
So we should beat 3-4 of those teams.
Heck,LSU's D might shudder.

I am with you on this one. "Overlooking" is not a major concern of mine with CNS preparing our team. Vandy is getting more respect than ever these days so overlooking them is not likely. I am looking forward to the game and learning more about our team.

well, here in the nashville area, it is known that nickson, did not have a good spring, their running game is non existent, and they have one legitimate receiving threat, who is probably all sec and maybe all american caliber. i hope prince hall gets his job back. they need him against the run, and the pass over the middle. we also seemed to be a little slow getting to the corners. i am sure the coach will address those problems. i really like our offense, and believe we will drive many teams crazy this year. we seem to have solidified our offensive line, and wilson will have a lot more time to pass this year. i really like our running backs. especially glad to see coffee back.

:cool2: Same to you .

I was shocked at the ga/okst score , even moreso when I saw the stats .:conf3:

That's what everybody says about Vandy every year. Every year could be the year that Vandy goes to a bowl. But it never happens.

Here here. The Vandy love occurs every year and every year they are the same. Reminds me of when we used to play So. Miss.

I love when the media picks the team we open with as "upset alert" kind of game. Georgia may have had it's share of troubles at points last year and in years past, but under Richt, one thing we've done consistently is play well in the opening game.

So, when the talking heads jump on a Boise State or Oklahoma State bandwagon and proclaim that they'll be the team to make the statement, it kind of puts me in a good mood.

Considering all of the new starters for Ga , especially on D and knowing OkSt's ability to score , I was also one who felt OkSt was a near lock .
