Now lets get back to football

The etymology of the word "Cajun" CajunCrimson is such that you of all people should be tolerant of relaxed spelling and grammer rules.

I used to try to by sly and subtly mock the poster regarding his/her atrocious grammar.

Unfortunately the majority of internet posters (not on this site, obviously) are too stupid to realize you're making fun of them, and the ingenious wit and sarcasm are wasted, falling emptily into a veritable, bottomless sarchasm.

;-) ;-P

I think you woke up to early or are staying up to late. But, thanks anyway.

I always enjoy these spelling/grammar threads. I grew up in the home of an English teacher, so I've had my grammar corrected since I started talking. Correcting others is second nature to me. When I first discovered message boards, it took a long time for me to get over things like atrocious spelling, poor grammar, misused words, etc. The misused words are the ones that really bug me.

Anyway, I soon learned that it doesn't require a high school education to access the internet and that many posters are indeed children or are mentally challenged.

What really bothers me, though, are when someone is around enough that you learn from their posts that they are actually a Bama grad or even a Bama student, and they still make glaring grammatical, and spelling errors, or misuse words. That is an embarrassment to The University.

I always love it when someone jumps on a message board correcting the masses, while doing the same thing.

Earlier today, you said:

Its funny to read this stuff sometimes as people forget that Ole Miss has a team too, and some are pretty good. They get to watch video of tendencies, and player movements and adjust accordingly......the important thing is that we adjusted toward the end of the game.......and that's what mattered. The one thing I like about Prince Hall, is that he doesn't disappear during the game...... he's around the ball, making plays, almost making plays and disrupting flows.......yes, he makes mistakes, but he's still an underclassman, that makes his presence felt. But there are certain players (Simeon, D Ryans, Teague, Bennett, etc) from our past that had a nasty habit of always being around the ball, and Prince is one of those guys!

It seems to me that an educated fellow like yourself would know that when the word “its” is used, it is correct only as a possessive. We all know "it's" is correct only when it is used as a contraction meaning “it is.”

Mr. Pot, I'd like you to meet my good friend Mr. Kettle!

Yes. it is a football board. I guess the spelling/grammar issue all depends on how much pride one takes in presenting themselves to others. Besides, correct spelling and good grammar enables readers to better understand the meaning and message of one's posts which is sometimes hard to do if the post is on a 3rd grade level.
