Ok, after hearing on several threads about LSU's huge talent pool and no championships, I want to point out the one team that for sure has more talent, USC.

5 star NFL talent all arcross the board. Way more than LSU by any unbiased "expert" opinion. Has lost two games this year.

Does this mean Pete Carroll (2NC's, one legit) can't coach? It must, because that's what it means at LSU, right? Or is it only Les Miles?

Or is it because there is a whole lot of talented teams out there, and anyone can be beat and it doesn't necassarily reflect on the HC every time a more talented (subjective) team get beat?

It's so easy to say someone got "outcoached" when in fact the margin between winning and losing, especially in the SEC is razor thin.

I'm not saying Miles doesn't have some issues (he does) or that he's better than Saban (he's not ) but I don't think the village idiot.

I don't think you can immediately say he's a failure because he hasn't won a NC or SECC with "all that talent" when he hasn't completed his 3rd year yet.

I'm not sure anyone is saying Les can't coach, but Carroll's ability isn't in question because he has won championships - that's the measuring stick. If Les ever wins a championship, it will go a long way towards quieting the dissension...

This is getting old.

Are you trying to convince us or yourself?

I guess it doesn't get old when every thread about the LSU team points out that they're overtalented and uderachieving.

I'm just trying to defend my team with a different point of view, that's all. It's a Bama board, but if you don't want to hear a different point of view, I can shut up and go away.

I'm betting it won't take long for this thread to get locked down.

I'm taking odds on how long this thread lasts, anyone want in on it?

He can't coach defense.

I'm personally sick of all of the treads on the topic. You started one yesterday and now today. We have about 500 already on the board. Quit picking the scab.

Well speaking of USC, isn't it kind of funny how things turned out this season when Corso said they should be the #1 and #2 team? They were being lauded as one of the greatest teams ever before they had played a single game. Now they are going to finish #4 in the Pac-10. I would say Corso was just a bit off on that prediction. ;)

Didn't USC lose some starters to injuries?

Yes they lost some guys, but with their amount of talent it shouldn't matter. For example they lost Booty but behind him is Mark Sanchez. Sanchez was ranked the #1 QB in the nation coming out of high school. They have talent upon talent, so losing a few starters shoudn't make any difference.

Bingo. All the cajuns are trying to convince themselves and they won't be convinced until The Hat wins a championship of some sort, which he hasn't. To this point he is LSU's version of Frank Solich and it's ripping their intestines loose.

Leave us alone with your Miles talk. WE DON'T CARE!!!!!

Actually there are a lot of people who think Carroll can't coach. He stunk with the Patriots, despite having some talent. He was the coach between Parcells (superbowl appearance) and Belichick (numerous superbowl wins). Each season, his team got worse until he was fired.

Of course Tom Brady factors into the equation somehow. ;) But I doubt that those three years which Carroll coached were nerely an aberration in terms of personnel.

Carroll's secret to success at USC has been based on the ability to sell the image of LA to those outside the state and to successfully recruit the huge talent base in the metro area there.

It's entirely possible that Carroll doesn't know how to coach up players nor scheme-design at all, though.

Few posters on this board at pre-season didn't pick LSU to run the tables, play in the BCSCG. Most, when predicting BAMA's record, indicated a loss to LSU, even those of us with the thickest crimson glasses. Some of the reasoning was change in coaching for us, though for the better it still means a change without the talent CNS might need to be sucessful. Another reason was the talent at LSU (not sure what overtalented means).

Fast forward to the end of Oct and an opportunity to reevaluate both programs; The truth is BAMA along with LSU controls their opportunity to travel to ATL in Dec. LSU, even though 3rd in the nation is looking over its shoulder at 2 undefeated teams gaining ground on the national scene while having to come to T-town just over a TD favorite to hang on to the SECW. So I see your point of view I just don't share it any longer.

Coaches and programs have few undefeated seasons; BAMA is a fine example. I could care less about Les nor Carroll but I know enough not to compare the 2 or to compare the 2 programs. I can imagine there are BAMA fans going onto purple and gold boards to defend CNS, when it's a bunch of young adults that have to suit up in 3 days. It's silly to come onto an opponents board to defend your man. JMHO.
