Re: Anybody know much about Blaine Gabbert-QB

We offered him in the spring and he committed to Nebraska. He has opened up his recruiting since then but we have our man now, Star Jackson.

Yep,I bet if I had a dollar for every poster that has asked about BG since he opened his recruitment I'd be rich.IMO,we have the guy we need and it appears the staff has decided the same.

Agreed. I don't believe we're actively pursuing Gabbert anymore and the feeling is probably mutual at this point. We've got a great QB committed and unless the staff feels another one is necessary I highly doubt we'll pursue Gabbert anymore this year.

From all I've heard he's a virtual lock for Mizzou anyway. Of course, no high school kid is ever a lock, and we have Star Jackson, the man we want anyway.

Re: Anybody know much about Blaine Gabbert-QB

Once the train leaves the station, it's a wee bit hard to run down.

With unlimited slots, we would take him back in a heartbeat. He's good. No, check that. He's potentially great.

Then the math starts. Fewer remaining slots than you can count on your fingers, JJ and many others still out there, remaining needs for TE's and CB's--hey, guys, doesn't this class already have a pretty good QB in there somewhere?

Star is the man, and not simply by default. SJ is also a good and potentially great QB, and he loves Crimson. I have no ill will toward Blaine Gabbert, but the train left quite a while ago. Hopefully, we'll see him in a bowl game some day...

Re: Anybody know much about Blaine Gabbert-QB

Gabbert is rated a 5 star and was the MVP at the Elite 11 QB camp this past summer. Since then he has had a less than stellar senior season due to inconsistent play and injuries.

He had committed to Nebraska but with all there troubles and a likely head coaching change he has re-opened his recruitment. Even though his profile still lists an offer from Bama that has long since expired. At this point there appears to be no mutual interest between Bama and Gabbert. It looks like he will end up at Missouri which was his Mother's choice in the first place.

Midland Recruiting Notebook
Gabbert, a 6-foot-5, 230-pound gunslinger from Parkway West High in Mo., shocked many fans and experts when he initially made a commitment to Nebraska over the home-state favorite Missouri.

Now that Gabbert has re-opened his commitment the Tigers appear to be in good shape to land a commitment from the mammoth QB, maybe with in the next week, as he is set to take yet another visit to Columbia this weekend to watch the Tigers take on Texas A&M.

He commits to Mizzou, according to a Sunday story in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Gabbert Commits to Missouri
Initially Blaine Gabbert made a commitment to sign with and play for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, but after re-considering the commitment he has decided to go ahead become the 18th Missouri commitment.

To say it was a successful day for the Missouri Tigers would be an understatement. Not only did they successfully fend off an upset minded Texas A&M squad to keep their conference championship hopes alive, but they also reeled in a commitment from the state’s top ranked player in quarterback Blaine Gabbert.

With that said why would anyone think we wouldn't go after Gabbert, If your quote applies to Jackson

The kid made a good choice. Pinkel is putting together something good up there. That program was WAY down when he took over.
