Link: What is the Pig Idea?

hahaha....he's funny....he lost all credibility when he said the score would be 38-37 Hogs. I'm not saying the hogs won't win, but they will not score 38 points on us....what's this guy smoking

This guy seems a bit overly optimistic to me. I can't see Arkansas scoring 38 points unless our starting defense falls asleep or gets hurt. I tend to be overly optimistic when it comes to Bama football but if Alabama scores 37 points like this guy says, Bama goes home a winner.

Roll Tide!!!:BigA:

They are a weird fan base. I had a number of speaking engagements in Hogland, back when they were SWC. At one, a food fight broke out at a luncheon of professionals. I remember telling friends that I was glad they were not in the SEC. They've played a couple of weak sisters, both of which would have lost to all three teams we've played. In each case, it's taken last quarter heroics to pull it out. The opposing defenses have lived in their backfield, but they're laughing at our defense and Cody. Around here, there would be much wringing of hands over this game, but not over there in the pigpen. They almost all predict victory and Luigs manhandling Cody and throwing him in the dirt. Not much reason to talk to them until after the game, I guess...

I've noticed their confidence go up over the past few days. They have several sports talk personalities that are sunshine pumpers and they have the fans believing that UWI and ULM were decent teams. I'm gonna deflate them come Monday morning if Bama blows them out. If we don't, then I just want call. Ha

BTW, If you all don't know, Bama is the mosted hated opponent on the Arkansas schedule.

Thats a fitting way to describe it. They were down 24-14 with 8:00 left in the fourth to Western Illinois and 27-14 early in the fourth to ULM. :eek2: And in both games the didn't finally take the lead until less than two minutes to go.

I understand being optomistic, but, really?

This guy is the poster child for Rose colored glasses (truth be known, I happen to own a pair of Crimson colored ones)

If they give up 35 to us and we lose, there needs to be some serious re-evalution of our defensive preparation.

Though I don't expect us to cover the 9.5+, I do expect us to win maybe a 24-17 contest or so...

I guess we will see soon enough!!

Rolllll Tide!

if the team that played last week shows up this week, i think we will cover 9.5 easily. now, i'm not underestimating arky, but with the intensity we played with last week (and against clemson) no way we wont cover the spread.

This fan base more than any other in the SEC confounds me. (At least USC knows what they are. They support their team to the hilt, but, do not go around with delusional thoughts the way the piggies do.)

-They, more than any other team in the conference, were built for a particular (mostly one-dimensional) style of play.
-They lose more talent on offense than any other team in the country.
-They go out and hire a coach (a quitter who tucked his tail and ran, btw) who's offensive philosophy could not be any more different than the previous staff's.

Yet they believe this same team has the capacity to win a game it couldn't win last year when they had staff continuity and an immense amount of Pro talent in the backfield including one of the most feared running backs in the SEC in a decade.

Case in Point: http://alabama.scout.com/a.z?s=14&p=2&c=792187
Worst write up I have ever read. Here is his reason for picking an upset on Saturday: "I’m swayed by the look in the eyes of these Arkansas players. If they believe, then so do I. It’ll be Arkansas, 31-30, on a fun day at Reynolds Razorback Stadium." The players are supposed to believe! If they didn't, they don't belong in the SEC or CBP is not doing his job. That statement is so ridiculous I am having trouble putting it in context.

This is why I appreciate Jess and this sight more than any other. I may not always like what Jess has to say but at least it is a somewhat honest and objective assessment.
