News Article: Bama seeded 11th in College Football Playoffs going into conference championship games

I would love to see that matchup but I think it's pretty unlikely. Alabama, if it makes the CFP, will be #10 or #11. That means it will be play #6 or #7. Unless Penn State upsets Oregon, Notre Dame will move past Penn State in the rankings and end up as the 5th seed, not 6th. More likely...

    All-time Sagarin ratings

No doubt. The only way even to attempt the exercise is to compare a team's dominance against its peers on any given year. I recall that 538 did that a few years back. Pretty cool article: https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/we-rate-alabama-the-strongest-team-in-college-football-history/...

JessN: Auburn preview: Tigers will be tough, but upset chances are low

I was wondering that myself. I think he's referring to the time Scott Cochran invited Malzahn to "Run another trick play, [kind sir]!"

Game Thread: Miss St @ LSU

I'm pretty comfortable that a 11-1 Bama would till get in.

What was the third Saturday in October like before Fulmer?

You described it perfectly. Sort of like the LSU-Alabama rivalry since Saban arrived at Alabama. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I'm happy to root for LSU when they play out of conference. This has been discussed many, many times on this board, but whether you consider Auburn or Tennessee as...

Link: Clemson Names Freshman Lawrence Starting QB; Bryant Announces Intent to Transfer

Re: Clemson now has a freshman QB as their starter. Dabo names Lawrence starter Well I guess that didn't work. Bryant is transferring. Should nominate Dan Wolken's tweet for #OldTakesExposed.

When is the last time you remember an Alabama offense being this explosive?

Agreed. If Alabama finishes with 40+ ppg by the end of the season, it'll likely be because we had a bunch of defensive breakdowns against the likes of Missouri and Ole Miss, which kept them in the game for longer than comfortable.

When is the last time you remember an Alabama offense being this explosive?

In the last 50 years, I'm pretty sure it would be 1973. I'm pretty sure that Alabama finished in the top 5 in the country (maybe #1 overall?) in total offense. Had 41 points per game that year -- something that could be exceeded this year.

    Alabama QB competition article

Re: Alabama QB competition article (ALL QB posts here, please) Yes, Tide fans didn't really care about the answer. The media were asking about the Alabama QB competition purely for clicks. Quoted post citation: "Alabama QB competition article", tidefans.com, page #303, post #3,930.

    Alabama QB competition article

Re: Alabama QB competition article (ALL QB posts here, please) It's apparent that Leatherwood is looking not at Tua directly, but at his reflection in the mirror. How does 13 appear in the mirror backwards? Sigma iota. What does sigma iota signify? Sum (sigma) 9 (iota = 9th letter of the...

Name your Alabama Player of the Year on Off and Def

Waddle could be the second coming of David Palmer, but Saban would sooner lose a day of recruiting than start a freshman as punt returner. (In other words, he wouldn't like it.)
