We went 9-3 in the regular season in DeBoer's first season. Fans and the sports media will expect improvement in year two, because, well, that's just how it should be, right? The first year is all about the struggles of a new regime, change, players leaving, getting the right players in, wrong players out, etc. In the second year, there should be more stability, familiarity, and cohesiveness. So naturally there should be improvement in year two from year one. The question is, how much improvement do we expect and will we see?

Are we expecting a 1 game improvement, 2 game improvement or the full 3 game improvement with an undefeated regular season? A 1 game improvement gets us to 10 wins and probably in the conversation of SEC title game. A 2 game improvement probably guarantees us a spot in the title game and a spot in the playoffs. Of course, we all know what a 3 game improvement would mean.

For me improvement might not be in the W-L record, although I definitely don't wanna regress, as much as not losing the games we're supposed to win. That REALLY BAD loss to OU still stings, even more than the Vandy loss. Establishing offensive consistency, as we all know, should yield a better overall record and I'm always disappointed with a loss but I'm not expecting an undefeated season in this league either.

We certainly all want improvement in the number of games we win but there is also a consistency in performance factor. Can't struggle or lose against vandy or the cocks. Need ALL of our playmakers on offense involved making plays. The offense in general needs to be unpredictable, effective and flow in long drives and not rely on the big gainer. D needs to really step it up too. I am pretty optimistic but this is a tough league. Just glad media expectations aren't driving the perception of this team like it has, well, the past 17 years.

Yeah, with a 12-team playoff, making it into that is the minimum requirement. If he doesn't make it it means we lost at least three regular season games or more, and that's not going to fly in Tuscaloosa.

Vandy was winnable and mostly bad because it was ‘Vandy’

Those other three were non competitive on offense and playing with 2 hands tied behind our backs.

That's a little soon to say. He gets a complete pass for year 1, due to who the QB was, and the fact that we didn't even install DeBoer's offense. If we fire him after 2 years, then we are probably heading for a decade plus of mediocrity, because it will mean we have impossible expectations. DeBoer is clearly the guy, but he needs time to build the program in his image. He should have at least 3 years before we start talking about that. If he goes 6-6 then maybe, but we would be nuts to fire him if he went 9-3 again, especially when we will likely have the toughest schedule In football once more

Still chalk last year up to mulligan/transition season despite the fact of missing the 12 team playoff...which should have never happened with the talent we had on the roster. All the regular season teams we lost to we'll have in T-Town this year but we have to go to Athens and both Colombias. I think Grubb makes the difference for us as it really was offensive problems with inconsistency we had in 2024. But I agree, Alabama should be in every 12 team playoff from now to eternity. Nothing else will be acceptable.
