Russia Invades Ukraine XIX

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

What's old is new again.

Ukraine's war surges demand for a 100-year-old heavy machine gun
The Special Forces Weapons Committee (that trained 18B Weapons Sergeants) at the Q-Course at Bragg used to have a shrine to John Moses Browning. They worshipped him like a god.

I thought the Navy was working on a laser-based anti-drone system which could take out dozens in a sweep...
They probably are. Different service. Different environment. Electrical power, especially on a nuclear powered vessel is more abundant than for ground units.

Russian Geran drones are very dangerous, since they now possess INS & cell-tower sensors in addition to GPS/Galileo/GLONASS, and can be used autonomously or controlled by an operator.
In the recent attacks, they were coming in very high (above 16000 feet) before dropping low to attack their targets.

Would be huge

No one yet knows why, but for the first time in 7.5 years, Iranian flagged ships have just turned on their AIS beacons, all over the world. The oil market is taking it as a sign that Trump is about to cut a no-sanctions deal with Iran. Needless to say, oil price would be absolutely destroyed, sealing Putin's fate.

Holy crap! Welcome to the "find out" portion of the evening Mr. Putin. Imagine having to face your advisors after getting out-foxed by Trump.

President Donald Trump on Wednesday stated that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally told him that his country would no longer purchase Russian oil.

Trump has pressured India and China to stop doing business with Russia in a bid to shut down its economy and force an end to the Ukraine War.

"He assured me today that they will not be buying oil from Russia," Trump said. "It's a big stop. Now, I've gotta get China to do the same."

Whoa!

It sounds like India is not confirming it:

-----

"India is a significant importer of oil and gas. It has been our consistent priority to safeguard the interests of the Indian consumer in a volatile energy scenario. Our import policies are guided entirely by this objective," Ministry of External Affairs' official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a statement.

"Ensuring stable energy prices and secured supplies have been the twin goals of our energy policy. This includes broad-basing our energy sourcing and diversifying as appropriate to meet market conditions," the statement added.

"Where the US is concerned, we have for many years sought to expand our energy procurement. This has steadily progressed in the last decade. The current Administration has shown interest in deepening energy cooperation with India. Discussions are ongoing," it said.

It's working...

Gas stations across Russia are reportedly diluting gasoline to curb soaring prices amid an ongoing fuel shortage, causing widespread engine failures in Chinese cars. Drivers have reported sudden power loss and uncontrollable jerking while on the road. One Geely owner said she drove just 300 kilometers in her new car before it started shaking violently and spewing thick white-blue smoke. Geely Motors has blamed poor fuel quality in Russia, saying the gasoline contains excessive oxidants that cause detonation and severe engine damage.

Yeah, but do the gas stations in Russia have corndogs and tacquitos on a rolling heating coil, ready for the scarfing, like we have here in the US?

Ok, so Trump is talking about trade between Russia and USA, but claims that India will stop buying Russia oil. Does it make sense to anyone?

I don't spend any time reading Trump's posts. I don't even have an account on either Twitter, Truth Social, or Bluesky, but it appears he is talking about a scheduled meeting with Putin about the war and then slipped in a statement about future trade with Russia after the war is over. I fail to see anything wrong with this. I also don't see how this post has anything to do with Trump pressuring India to stop buying Russian oil.

How can you pressure India to stop buying Russian oil when you are talking about increasing US trade with Russia, which indeed grew since Trump became president?

India starts buying oil from Exxon — replacing Russia Indian refineries have purchased 4 million barrels of oil from Guyana through U.S. company ExxonMobil, with deliveries set to begin in early 2026, Reuters reports. The move deals a blow to Moscow’s position, as India is one of Russia’s largest oil buyers. New Delhi appears to be diversifying its imports amid pressure from the U.S. to stop “funding the war.” Russia has not commented yet — but the message has been heard loud and clear.
