What’s the point of these commercial breaks with no commercials?

Back in the day when I worked in consulting, everybody but me and a colleague were chain smokers. They all would take 10 minute smoke breaks every hour. literally. So my colleague and I began taking non-smoking smoke breaks.

I was reminded of that with the non-commercial commercial breaks. Sort of has the same purpose ... a placeholder for what might happen D
