JessN: Indiana Preview: The Search for Analogs as Bama Goes Against an Unfamiliar Foe

I just looked at the updated weather... looks like it will rain each day starting Dec. 31-Jan. 6, fairly high percentage of rain daily. I hate that for the parade and the game. Unfortunately, I believe the rain favors Indiana since they can run the ball better than we can. Turnovers and field position will be even more of an issue now for both teams.
The rain could benefit our receivers as well. But the field position will be the greatest factor.

I hope you're right. We've played about 5 or 6 quarters of really good football since Tennessee, but IU not playing in a month hopefully helps us. I know it's hard for us to take this program seriously, but I think they're legit good. You don't luck into beating Oregon on the road and Ohio State.

Seems reasonable . . . no mistakes on special teams or turnovers and Bama should be fine. It’s a matter of whether the team is prepared to play 60 minutes. I can envision a 35-21 victory.

We only get over 28 if we get a turnover for a TD or a very short field. Our offense tops out somewhere around 24 to 28.....mainly because we rely so heavily on the QB with virtually no running game.

Indiana's toughest games.....they've only scored:
20 vs Iowa
30 vs Oregon (with a pick 6)
27 vs Penn State
13 vs Ohio State

Our toughest games:
24 vs Georgia
30 vs Vandy (with multiple turnovers)
27 vs Missouri
37 vs Tennessee (with a huge pick 6)
29 vs SC
20 vs LSU
21 vs Oklahoma
27 vs Auburn
7 vs Georgia
34 vs Oklahoma (with a pick 6 and punt recovery)

We've played a much tougher slate than Indiana, we should be the healthiest we've been in a while now.

Bama 24-20

Indiana preview: The search for analogs as Bama goes against an unfamiliar foe

by Jess Nicholas, TideFans.com Editor-In-Chief

The hardest part about comparative analysis is comparing two teams for which no common baseline exists.

When Alabama faces off against Indiana in the Rose Bowl, the only commonalities the two teams have are that both teams played a game against Wisconsin this year, and Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti wouldn’t get lost if you dropped him in the middle of Tuscaloosa.

That'd be painful to watch, but I'll take it

I learned a lot, Jess. Thanks.

I have been accustomed to being rather relaxed after halftime ... until this year. This whole season I've felt like I was holding my breath from the 2Q-on. This game looks like I'll be holding my breath a lot ... again.
🫣

For me this sentence is right where I am.

"This is where trying to figure out how Indiana got here becomes the big issue, and is the Big Ten that much behind the SEC in terms of conference strength."
